No need; Charlie got off herself and there was no egg. Chickie laid one though, then went off on a cacklecophony because she couldn’t see the other two! Do anyone else’s girls do that?

Mine are mostly silent layers. Patsy would make a LOT of noise but she was very proud of herself.

Chickie was off the nest by this time when she was shouty. The other two were up by the house so she couldn’t see them from where she was.

I had to boot Charlie off. She had laid an egg and was asleep on it.

Waiting patiently for breakfast.

Meanwhile, Charlie is back in the garden nest  and Chickie is in the henhouse. I’m giving Charlie another 20 minutes before I check under her and boot her off.
Too cute! And on your shoes too, no way you can sneak past her lol.

Laying an egg must be exhausting. :gig

I’m a bit worried about Lucy now. :( She’s had two goes on the nest today with no results. It’s now getting hot in the hen houses so she was standing in there panting. I don’t know if she’s egg bound or just going through the motions. It’s not unusual for her to go a couple of weeks without laying.

I’ve put some shade cloth on the roof over one house but I don’t think it’s enough. Might have to put the tarp back up too. Plus they’ve decided they don’t want to drink from their waterer (what is UP with that?!), whether it tastes funny from the calcium additive, but if I tip it on the ground or into another vessel, then that’s acceptable.

Mine prefer dirty (what I call 'wild water) over any other kind. If you spill water they will run to it and drink it. I've never been able to figure it out.
