@WhoDatChick you dont call the warden. Emphasis in this state is on relocation vs euthanasia. You call me. I swear to you i will be swift and give the creature their dignity.

They wouldn't do that here. We had a suffering deer and waited for the game warden for 9 hours. He said next time just put it down and call and tell them where it is. He has too large an area to tend to.i understand, your such a sweet lady! For us that part is easy. Call your local wildlife and fisheries, they will take the chicken killing critter away and you wont even have to know what happened to it if you tell em you dont want any part of it you feel bad for it and you just have to protect your girls.

We concentrate on keeping the chickens safe and not trapping. Bought a trap and set it up and ended up with one of my own terrified cats.Govt work blows thats a fact. Maybe theres an office you could bring it to to 'meet them halfway?'
Im glad were having these discussions and everyone will know what to do in the worst case scenario if you havent faced this yet.
I didnt tell anyone here on purpose, but i took a trapping workshop on Dec 7th, and an online class before that, all strictly for the birds welfare.
I have once noticed some digging around the coop and climbing on it (evidence) but I don’t believe they could get in... we are very secure... I have seen hawks circling but my yard is also covered.. plus, if anything was getting at my gals I don’t have a problem at all with doing away with the critter@WhoDatChick you dont call the warden. And there are def predators.. I have opossum poop in my yard always.. I see raccoons hit by cars on my street and also a dead fox.. which I was surprised to see.. I know we have them but had never seen any... so needless to say, I was glad to see it dead.. even though I know there are more around... so I got this... but thanks for the offer...
