Love this - synchronized preening is right up there with dust-bathing as one of my favorite chickeney things!
I am worrying about @BY Bob and Ned and Lucky. I hope they made the trip OK and it wasn't too traumatic for anyone.
I'm sorry. I will post on it in a bit. It all seemed to go well.

One Last Morning Together

I got "lucky" yesterday and I got one last coffee clatch with Ned and Lucky.

Here they were with their mom when it was time for me to let them out.

Here is the run to freedom

I was able to video Lucky preparing the cushion for coffee Clatch time.

Here are some more photos from yesterday's time together.

Say Goodbye to your Childhood Home

So later in the day I gethered them up, loaded them into the crate and prepared to take them to their new home.

The others were furious with me. They were all squawking, and complaining. Hattie was following me just out of arms reach, she's no dummy, yelling at me for all she was worth.

I backed away from the crate for a moment and they all came running over to Ned and Lucky.

Sadly for Ned and Lucky, with Maleficent gone, no one knows how to work the latches to break them out. 🤣

Meeting Dad

Once we arrived we started out by letting them just meet everyone through the crate. After the dogs, the next one to visit was their papa.

We then let them out to start exploring.

They met more different animals in that time than the ever did in my yard, 2 dogs and three cats. No one chased them. I have to say that CCCL's dogs are the most well behaved dogs I have been around in a long time. Of course Rich would have it no other way. Aside from trying to steal pieces of bread from the chickens, they all mixed together beautifully. Frankly i was very afraid that Ned or Lucky might run from the dogs and start a chase scene that would end badly but Ned just hustled Lucky away from them without needing to run and the dogs could have cared less.

When some of the other flock members wandered over to where Ned and Lucky were there was no chasing. That had to be confusing to them because when my big girls came towards them it was to chase them.

Everything went very well until roosting time.
