Well here we go @BY Bob I’m sorry I may have started this on your thread but... here is my entry for the “ugliest chicken coop” contest! View attachment 2408287View attachment 2408288
first order of business was clearing out the dinette foam, old mattresses, cutlery, and curtains View attachment 2408290View attachment 2408291
Then removing glass mirrors and reinforcing the floor which had spongy spots that threatened to collapse under me. And throwing a secure ing layer of plywood over the dinette as well. It turns out this is a two and a half sheets of plywood and a three day project. Tomorrow I have to install the roosts, tarp the stove and fridge off, figure out how to actually secure the door as day 1’s moving seem to have thrown all the doors out of alignment. I also screwed every door and hatch shut as well, because chickens are clever.

I can just see Sammy with a Rum and coke in a tight t shirt, Dean in an ugly Hawaiian shirt smoking, and Cass with coke bottle Glasses trying to lure my cats away. If you don’t understand the references, I promise the source material really isn’t worth watching! Not all my friends have good taste when it comes to entertainment...
Nature has almost claimed that caravan Kris. That's a great idea to convert it for the chooks. It has.....potential. ☺

Why not just gut it completely? It would be easier to clean that way.

So I started with a very not level dinetteView attachment 2409018and covered and leveled it with plywood View attachment 2409019
Then threw some 1/4” ply up over the water damage in the back... because I know they are going to dig in and eat the insulation if given the chanceView attachment 2409023
next, I added some roosts in the bed area, and that’s it for the emergency winter chicken housing solution for now.View attachment 2409029
Now, I’m headed back out to get soaked in phase two of the relocation project... and yes, I realize how much fun it isn’t going to be cleaning the coop with the Roost arrangement, but done is better than perfect!
That must be the fastest coop build I've ever seen! 😄 Well done Kris. :clap
The chooks will appreciate the spacious new quarters and I expect it's easier for you than crawling into a chicken tractor too.

I too am looking forward to seeing the occupants enjoying their new home! 🥰

My Millie (Little Mill), now 3 1/2, started limping as a pullet. At the time, I assumed she hurt herself jumping down from somewhere. She self limited her activity and slowly improved. Every once in awhile, even now three years later, a mild limp resurfaces. I can only see it when she runs, as her gait becomes a bit of a skip. Most of the time, she appears completely normal. :idunno
That's interesting. I wonder what caused it initially?

From marauding cows at least!

I will try to accommodate.... let’s hope they behave and got the idea for tomorrow night (I expect more relocation will be needed)
Likely more relocation will be required. Which rooster has the keys to the door? 🔑

Bob, we aren’t asking because we expect updates on your flock here... it is Fluffy Butt Acres after all... we know you will tell us how things are going, and we are all rooting for peace and harmony (you hear that Aurora? That means you!) and Lilly is walking much better!!! Did you get a good inspection with Mrs BY Bob’s help? No signs of bumbles, right? ( “with what I’m going through with Roostie now, I don’t think I could handle Lilly being in a similar state!)
Of course I must update you all. You are right to expect it.

Lilly was moving so good yesterday and I was heads down working on the 85 in the garage until late last night. So we did not examine her last night.

I am replacing the heater blower in the 85.

I just saw a white blur streak passed the window out of the corner of my eye, closely followed by a red streak. When I looked up there was Tsuki haring across the yard in the other direction with a cicada in her beak and Deana in hot pursuit.

She is still looking for a safe place to eat it.

Ha! Alice just dived in and got it! 🤣
Poor Tsuki. 😥 She found it.
