He wont, but he'll hope you get a basic health kit sorted for the future. :hugs
I now have replenished the starters for my chook first aid.
In time I will work on expanding it.
I have more wormer (finished off the last one this morning), I have a vitamin, mineral, amino acid and prebiotic liquid, I already had an electrolyte liquid for the summer stresses and have a amprolium powder which I will begin using tomorrow.
I used the worming solution today (who knows how much they had, they treat it like it is death in liquid form.) and will go again in a week.

Ooops!!! Hahaha! I accidentally put this on an emergency thread this morning!

I keep forgetting who my sprouting buddy is on this thread. One of our later joiners, I think? Anyway, here’s a fodder treat. Just a big handful vs. a whole tray. The video is a bit long, but take a peek at part of it.
Oh man, they loved it!!!
Thanks for sharing 🥰

Hi! I am so not caught up, so I won’t even pretend at it :p I’ve missed everyone’s updates and chat... it’s been kind of crazy around the farm lately, and in the community in general here. Let’s just say the FBook community forum for our island got so crazy/heated that there’s a new “no slander/personal attacks/name calling” one now that’s moderated and you have to actually live here/visit often to join it. And yes, both myself and my little baby goat were subjects of a few of those “attack” posts, from complete strangers!

Weather has been on and off, and I have lost two meat chicks (@ 5weeks old!) to cold snaps. They are now stuck in the barn here for another week, minimum. I’ve started to get my garden in, with seedlings in the greenhouse and cleaning up the overgrown beds at my friend’s farm. I walk Arduinna 3-10 miles a day, so we are getting some serious cardio in during daily chores/commuting. I lost one Red Rock girl to a predator (I’m thinking hawk) but otherwise everyone is doing well and we are looking at doing Roosties foot in the next couple weeks.

@BY Bob I also received the wonderful cards, and love them! Project Camper is also on, I scored free flooring and DH and I finally have some agreement on the short term/long term renovations. More importantly, I will be buckling down and concentrating on what I can do on the house. I’ve made two new island friends (taxidermy and Sauerkraut!) and they had some great suggestions on getting the panels up to the second story without the tractor, which BIL won’t share and recently broke (again). I’m going to blast up some photos in a separate post, but wanted to pop in with an update as well.

@Shadrach i am so sorry to hear of Fat Bird’s troubles, and I know you will do your best by her. :hugs If I’ve missed anyone else’s troubles, I’m sorry and don’t feel slighted, I just haven’t had a chance (is it even possible?) to catch up yet. Much love, and I’ve missed you all!
So good to hear from you 🥰
I’m sorry you and Arduinna have copped some nasty comments. I hope you guys are doing ok.

So I'm wondering if they're not eating enough?? I felt keel bones tonight; the three Faverolle girls are all boney but Charlie isn't so much. I'm wondering if I need to set up a second feed station and just monitor how much they eat? I'm wondering if Charlie doesn't let them eat! I'll mix up some people food for them as well with some baby bird mix for extra vitamins. Cross fingers everyone that they will be ok!
I hope so Lozzy 💜 maybe give the skinnier ones some treats that might fatten them up without Charlie getting wind of it 🤷🏻‍♀️
I have 3 feeding stations for my 3 just to cover all bases.

In general any medication, despite what it says on the packet, is best given in individual dosages. Doing it this way ensures each creature gets the right dose.
You may have to do a bit of maths to work out the correct dosage per bird. You need to weigh each bird to calculate the correct dosage.
Putting any type of medication in feed or water and hoping the right bird gets enough to sort the problem out is not likely to work ime.
Yup it's a bit of a bother, but chickens are.:D

That makes it two card deliveries! I was starting to wonder.

I am very sorry about your losses. I know how much you care for them. :hugs :hugs

I am curious about who is monitoring the islands face book forum. That is interesting. I can can't understand why anyone would attack your goat. People are so disappointing.

Is Arduinna on a lease when you walk or is she walking free with you?

It is great to have you back for a moment. I'm sorry I have so many questions. :hugs

Ugh. Poor Dorothy appears to have another softie in the works.

This girl is almost 2 and has never molted (like Minnie). I wish she’d molt and take a laying break. I might take her to the avian vet and see what we can do. A hormone implant would give her a break, but I wonder if bloodwork might reveal something? It seems she’s not metabolizing calcium properly.

Well, her tail came back up and she headed to roost. I dosed her with calcium a bit ago, so if there is an egg without a shell, she should be able to pass it.

Other than Dorothy’s issue at the end there, the flock looked really good and healthy after work. This morning they got that wheat fodder in addition to their usual complete feed, plus some damp feed with that detox, olive leaf extract, and echinacea goldenseal.
Sadly leghorns and laying issues seem to go hand in hand. Chickens just weren't meant to lay so many eggs. 😕

Bokky update.

Ok, so Bok had a pretty good day today. She ate most of her oats with honey and tuna for breakfast before I had to let the young ones join her which seemed to make her happier tbh.
Admittedly I didn’t get home from work until later today (5:30pm), I changed the worming water out for fresh stuff with the vitamin solution added in and gave them some scrambled eggs with a touch of that in it too. She was quite participatory in its ingestion.
Once Vi was in the bath I sat out with them and held out Violet’s cheese toasty crusts which she ripped at with the other 2 girls. She drank a nice amount of water afterwards which I figured was a good thing.
I sat out there with a glass of red and cried talking with her, because that’s what I do and why my husband didn’t want me to get the new chickens because of how hard I take it.
She went to bed around 7:30and when I shut the door a half hour later all 3 of them were roosted on the same perch together, they rarely do that 💜
