Last year Taz brought me a fledgling Bluejay. I put the baby in my hanging flower basket. Mom and dad were near and saw the baby. The next morning he was still there but within an hour or so he flew off with one of the adults.

I don't know where or how it happened, but, Bunny came up on the front porch a hour ago raising a ruckus. Go outside to see what is the matter and she has one of those sticky fly tapes stuck to her. Started at her vent area, went under a wing and ended at her chest. I removed it and she immediately flew to the sawdust pile to start dust bathing. I'm going to check her over in a little bit to see if I'm going to have to bath her to get the residue off. If I do I'm assuming the best thing to use would be dawn dishwashing liquid and warm water.

Wow that's a new one. At least she knew where to go for help! I'll be interested to see if it dust bathes off.

It is so wonderful that they utilize the grass safely. You have done a great job with their environment.

After a hour of furious dust bathing, she'd managed to get everything off except for her vent area so she got a butt bath. She was NOT happy with that but hopefully she learned her lesson about fly traps. I still do not know where she managed to get tangled up in one at though. The thing was covered in flies so miss pig probably was trying to eat them off of it to get herself tangled up.

I can see that happening. I bet she avoids them moving forward.

Flexy has a balled patch on her front, she either came of her perch awkward or she may be having her first ever molt.

A Sad Day

Today is a sad day at Fluffy Butt Acres. It is the anniversary of the passing of the greatest hen ever. She left us 3 years ago in 2018. It is amazing how much upheaval the tribe has undergone since then. Here is a quick synopsis.

1. Daisy passes, tribe is Patsy and Lilly
2. Hattie and Jabberwocky join us, tribe is now 4, Patsy, Lilly, Jabber, and Hattie
3. Aurora and Maleficent join us, tribe is now 6, Patsy, Lilly, Jabber, Hattie, Aurora, and Maleficent.
4. Jabber departs. tribe is now 5, Patsy, Lilly, Hattie, Aurora, and Maleficent.
5. Patsy passes. tribe is now 4, Lilly, Hattie, Aurora, and Maleficent.
6. Maleficent passes. tribe is now 3, Lilly, Hattie, and Aurora
7. Sydney, Sansa, and Phyllis join us. Tribe is now 6, Lilly, Hattie, Aurora, Sansa, Sydney, and Phyllis.

All in three years.

A quick moment to remember the greatest hen ever.

On her last day, Patsy stayed by her side until the end. I will always be grateful to Patsy for that and I did the same for her when it was her time.

Here is a short video of me holding Daisy as the end arrived. We sat together for a few hours and then she asked to be put down so she could spend her last moments with Patsy as seen in the photo directly above.

The skies today remind me so much of this day. Let's remember her for the jaunty lady she was.
