This picture is a week old, but the last of my silkies finally has a name. The other 2 are Branch *a suspected male now* and Poppy. Me and Rosie have been going back and forth on a name for the last one, neither of us liking what the other has chosen. All the while doing this continuing to call her what I nickname all my chicks while they are tiny babies. Little bits, or Itty bits. I've always said the right chick will one day earn the right to keep the nickname "lil bit", although it would be a comical name for one of my big girls. It finally dawned on me and Rosie that she is going to stay small, and she responds to the nickname Lil bit. So here she is in all her tiny glory, officially meet "Lil Bit". And yes one way or another I've decided to make it work and hang onto my crazy silkie fluffs.

I'm glad it sorted itself out.... but 6.5 hours!

I have had the atrial fibrillation since my 20s but it would only be a flutter now and then so it could never be caught. I eventually had an episode that lasted for 18 hours which enabled it to be diagnosed.
My doctor sent me straight to the ER and they bustled me straight in where they shocked my heart. It worked!

I still get short flutters now and then which I have to monitor.

Oh, wow! 18 hours sounds crazy! I have this nifty device by AliveCor called KardiaMobile. It fits in my wallet or pocket and runs off my smartphone. I highly recommend it!

I thought it was a great shot when I looked out my window.

Lucky for the ladies I discovered they were trapped on the deck. Two inner tubes for floating in the pool had blown into their gravel box and blocked their path back. I cleared the inner tubes just before the worst of the rain hit.

Turning Grey

This broodiness is not only causing Phyllis to lose feathers, she is turning grey! Check out this tail feather she just dropped.

The top of it is turning white like the feathers on her head. That is not a glare from the photo.

I wonder if there is a nutritional component to why her head feathers turn white?

Interesting! What are the tiny specks all over the feather?

The Buckeyes alerted me last night to a bad mistake I made yesterday! I hadn't closed up the back of the coop after cleaning the roost bars and tray in the afternoon. So the "secure" coop and run had an opening vulnerable to aerial predators through there! I had been distracted by something and never went back to it and didn't see it as it's on the end of the complex.

Somebody started the escort call shortly after their usual roost time, about 8:35. That was unusual to hear. I always go to see them when I hear it, whenever, or any other sudden sound, so out I went with a flashlight (its pretty dark in the woodsy part of the yard then). Yikes! They were up in the coop but grouped as far away from the open back as possible. I'm so glad they told me to come and check! Thank you Buckeyes!

Fire ants . I was working in the yard. I was unlucky today. The little monsters stung me up pretty good. I didn’t even notice them, until they were all over me, stinging my arms and shoulders.

You could get your revenge in an educational way Alex.

I got a new Android phone, chosen for a good camera at reasonable cost for me, a Pixel 4a. Trying it out the last couple of days. It can focus a lot closer, and seems fairly quick, and is much better in low light than my previous phone. I need to see about muting the camera "click" - I got close to the group & touched the trigger spot, it clicked and everyone jumped all at once. Oops, sorry, ladies!
