Roosting Issues Continue

Last night Phyllis roosted in the run again. So I moved her to the coop. I had to push Hattie to make room for Phyllis on the main roost.

So tonight look where Phyllis roosted.

Can anyone remember when I installed that roost? No one ever used it before as it's only big enough for Phyllis.
I’m glad to see her use it.❤️

They are Eating!

I caught them eating this morning. I am starting to relax a little. I have also tilted the heat plate at little at @RoyalChick suggestion. It seems to be working.

I love it, Bob! Those are good sounds! BTW, I heard my niece might be moving to Hershey, Pennsylvania! Her hubby got a job there. He is a biologist of some sort, I think. Wouldn’t it be ironic if he were working for you?

My laptop isn’t working properly today. But I totally enjoy all this good news. Lovely chicks Bob!! Kinda makes me cry with happiness. I’m of to San Francisco this morning. On business to buy that acreage of land next door. Wow, those chicks are cute!!!
Alex, you were only an hour from me in San Francisco! In fact, I picked up my sister at SFO this afternoon!

These girls are the reason that if I was in a position that if it meant to keep chickens confined in a coop 24/7 was the only way to keep them I would not have any. He had more predator issues then I do so his only option was no free ranging at all. His chicks that he ordered this spring never came and he is happy about it. Don't get me wrong, he and his wife loved their chickens, but came to the conclusion that if these girls were given a shot at a place where they could free range eventually and be "chickens" it was for the best. My mom and his wife have become Facebook buddies and have a shared interest in yard sales and estate sales. They've already made plans to get together when covid dies down in our area and hit a few "junk sales" as I call them. It would not surprise me at all that if when I got sawdust delivered that she tags along to come visit "her girls" and that would be perfectly fine. In fact when my sawdust is delivered I'm sending a dozen eggs home with him.
What a wonderful scenario and surprise friendship!

Oh I love me a talkative chicken!
Here is my biggest talker digging for gold in the long grass. I am stalking for FBF picture but nobody is cooperating.

I would have to lie down in the long grass to get a good picture of anyone and there are too many bugs and too much mud for my liking.
There are three Princesses in this picture.

I just love these photos and I love a talkative chicken, too!

You know, they could be lavender. Their blue is definitely different then Blueberry who is a 100% blue. The whole lavender thing confuses me somewhat. Apparently it is very easy to mix up whether a chicken is either a light blue verses lavender.
Blueberry, no question about it, Blue.

The new girls.

Yeah, probably lavender, or else their shades would vary, I think. Pretty sure they’re cochins. Lovely fluff balls!

I think I'm getting somewhere with the new girls. They still do not want to be handled, and I'm respecting that right now. But while they were free ranging today, no matter where I was at they had to keep me in eyesight. If I stayed in one place for any length of time they would get close enough to touch if I wanted to. And all this was without any food as a bribe.
