Last post for me before bed.
After I put all the new bedding back in the coop, Snow went right in to lay (she had been grumbling for a while at me, hurrying me up) so I watched her from the side door (where I’ve just realised that spider was, so close to my head and hand and I had no idea 😱)
She bustled around then gently turned the wood egg around and moved it to her chest before rising up to fluff out her chest feathers and covered it when she settled back down.
She turned herself a few times as I watched but each time she did this with the fake egg, it was so gentle and sweet 💜

Here's mine.
Put your overalls on, the feece lined ones, and go and lock them in manually.
I could never fully trust an auto closer. For a start it would mean that at roost time I would not be certain if all the chickens had arrived homw safely and gone to roost.
That's exactly what we do, for exactly that reason. Bonus: the yard light is on that side of the garage so flashlight (handtorch) is only needed if looking for missing birds.
