I've posted a picture of the coop and run before but here it is again just to put what comes next into perspective. The coop itself is roughly 3ft x 5ft, say 15 square feet.

This is what the inside of the coop looks like after being cleaned out and then used for one night.

This is what it looks like cleaned out and using straw I bought rather than the shredded paper I've been supplied with for bedding.
An idio t designed the coop. I wont go into all the problems with the design; some should be apparent.

There are 22 chickens that sleep in there. This is what that looks like. They have been living like this for over two years. The most recent additions the spring just gone increased the population from about 18 I believe.

In case the person who asked me why I bothered trying to take care of someone elses chickens reads this, the answer should be obvious to anyone with even the slightest trace of compassion.

OMG. How could anyone ever think that was enough space for 18 hens, never mind adding?

Chaco is doing good (if anyone is interested) I just let out the chooks, Jaffar is mad at me, for keeping his tribe locked up all day. He will get over it

I found a way to make my chooks behave. If one gets out of line, I bring her inside, and play one, (the same song) (by ENYA) continuously, until she submits to authority!

I know that it’s cruel, but it’s effective! (At least I don’t play anything from JEWEL)

Hmmm...looks like she was perusing a mail order catalog. ?New nest box decorations? Bedroom decor? Corn scented candles, maybe?

And speaking of a heated roost.....If I remember correctly, you have mentioned multiple times how smart those leghorns are...

That's unfortunate but at the same time a nice small novel to enjoy.

My whole day turned into a big pile of butt grass!
Jaffar has scaly mites (and I can’t catch him to help)
Rocks-Anne has a bloody leg and won’t let me near her either.
The Lexus battery is dead (I charged it, but still dead)

That’s quite a day! Butt grass!!!
