we left the door open to carry in groceries from the car, apparently the chickens ran right in and sat on the sofa. Cant take them out after that. Heavy guilt trip. Haha

You may remember my friend in Catalonia who looked after feral Fayoumi chickens. He had problems catching them.
He had one of these.

I was wondering if they can be hired in the US or even bought at a reasonable price. They are reasonably easy to use and I wondered if perhaps you could net the hawks and then pas them on to whatever authority deals with these creatures.

Sylvie is Gone

She out free ranging and I turned my back to do something and a hawk killed her. It was over when I heard it.

I'm telling everyone this so you know. I do not want to hear that it was for the best, or that I should have done X, or anything else. If you respond in that way I will block you. I am beyond devasted and I just don't want to hear I told you so or anything that you think is constructive. Frankly right now I'm ready to give up the chickens all together.

I don't know when I'll be back to the thread. It could be tomorrow, it could be a week.

My MIL has several roosters (yes, some are going on the table). She's keeping 3-4 for her motley crew, 3 for me (in case something happens to Cheetah): a 3 year old and 2 1-year olds. She also has 1 crotchety old roo who gets to live out his days there as a grandpa pet (he isn't included in the rooster count)

I do love a crotchety old rooster.

Most places have hawks. Some places allow you to shoot them and even in those places that don't people still do.

Are you kidding lol, my crew make sure the chick support payments are already outrageous! To top it off last night I got beat up removing a surprise very broody cochin girl off 2 eggs laid that day. I had NO CLUE that sneaky devil had that in mind.

She’s a Cochin, so ….!!!

A few weeks ago I found a deceased hawk in a tree. It was very odd and so far, it's still up there.
