A few weeks ago I found a deceased hawk in a tree. It was very odd and so far, it's still up there.

I'm pretty certain my neighbors would not like a fog horn going off.

If they've been buttered up with eggs occassionally and/or know about the reasons for it, they may assist with fog horns of their own.

If, by chance, the hawk happens to fly into your shovel and get a boo-boo, s/he could be placed at the side of the road near a run over squirrel or such. Blunt force trauma is blunt force trauma......

Like the sparrows that fly into the freshly washed windows?

They're beautiful! my in-laws had a rott/husky cross. She had the husky coat and muzzle with the rott colors. the oldest nice used her as a horse in her Halloween costume as a 2 year old. She was such a sweetie.

Wouldn't it be great if we could raise a big hawk to guard our chickens

Last year my sister became licensed falconer. On December 8th she caught a juvenile red tailed hawk. She and her kids have been training it ever since, mostly it goes after the rabbits that eat the garden, but I guess it helps keep other birds away too. They also have a large flock of chickens.
