It's a terrible feeling when you drop that precious gift.Chicken poop... Marginally better than racoon poop... Okay way better. But still gross when on you eggs.
My chicks ( now a couple of months old) refuse to roost I need the new roost I put in for them. My little Rose roosts on the edge of one of the nest boxes and poops on any eggs on there...
Last night I grabbed the poopy egg - a huge one from Sophia- and went to wash the doodoo off it, but silly me left my glove on the hand holding the egg... It sure is slippery with cotton gloves on, which is why it ended up splattered on the barn floor, Boohoo!!!! Third one that week, duh!
This weekend chickie-loos are going to learn about roosting!!!! Maybe eggs will survive my ministrations then
There she is roosting on the edge of the nest box... It can't be comfortable.
Coffee isn’t good for chickens is it? I don’t want to hurt my feathered friendshave you tried giving the bird its morning coffee?![]()
That sounds lovely. Good for you. Thanks, Bob! I think I’m up to date on both those things. Now we’re doing an overnight at a little hotel we love that is on the beach and lets us bring our dog. Neighbor was going to lock up chickens and let them out in the morning.
So wonderful to see them there again. The usual suspects are back!

The girls haven't been roosting here much since Tsuki died.
It's nice to have their company again while I peruse BYC.![]()
You are extra lucky my friend.I felt lonely, so I have Jaffar on my lap sitting comfortably as I text this on my iPhone. He doesn’t seem to mind at all, and I would wish that every chicken caretaker, would have such a blessed relationship that me and my Jaffar have. It’s actually quite amazing!
I think they have that green sheen but I'll check. Here’s a question for you @Shadrach, with Henry and Matilda do you notice any sheen in their black feathers?
Belle’s heart shaped black spots shine green but Snows have always been matte. Just wondered if your light Sussexes are the same or maybe I’m missing a subtlety in her feathers![]()
So does being post menopausal!Being single has its most defined privilege!
