Not sure how cold you think is cold , it's -5C here!!! But nice in the barn.

I got you both beat. Yesterday morning at my folks place, it was -17F (that's -27.2C). My place was -5F. This morning: -9F (@-20C) (Mike drop)

How are things going at Fluffy Butt Acres @BY Bob ? Is the roosting still calm? Has Sydney joined Phyllis in the Cluckle Hut? What else is going on?

My apologies to everyone. My house is full of family right now. It is hard for me to find slone time to post much on the tribe.

Sansa's anitbiotic is up. Unfortunately I am seeing no change outside of the weight gain. Her feathers are as ratty as before. She will return to the vet in 2 weeks for more labs. Having handled her more in the last month than ever before in her entire life she still doesn't run from me on site as I was concerned. On cold nights her feet are very cold when I take her from the roost. She has no feathers to tuck around them. I think this might be the biggest concern moving forward as we enter the depth of winter. She seems to have enough fluff to keep her body warm down to below freezing as I have observed no shivering so far but her feet might be a problem.

No one is roosting with Phyllis, she still roosts alone. Roosting in the main coop seems calm. Aurora is still running this lot. I believe that Hattie has accepted her position for now. Hattie is still the most frightened (or cautious) of them all. She really does not like to leave the complex.

Hi everyone. Ester isn’t feeling well. She’s standing around, has a poopy back end, does not seem to be eating much, and I think she is swollen. Not a good combination. Her posture is good while she is standing, but she is pretty inactive and (barely) scratches heartlessly.

It’s too cold to wash her bum, so I trimmed some feathers, gloved up, and pulled poop off. I also generously dusted her back end with cornstarch in hopes it would help me crumble the poop off (I think it helped).

I checked her crop when she went to roost and it was not empty. I hope that means she’s been eating when I’m not looking and not that it’s slow. I’ll check in the morning.

Her vent was VERY messy and tiny. I may bring her in for a couple hours tomorrow morning so I can properly wash her vent and surrounding area. A few months back she was messy in the back and seemed not to feel well, but was much better after I washed her off. I hope that’s what happened here… messy butt feathers backed her up, but I fear she has a reproductive problem. She never really came back into lay after her ordeal last winter at this exact same time.

Hope she perks up after some of your TLC!
