Yep I read somewhere tomato plants not good for them, one day they stripped my tomato plants - leaves flowers and green and red tomatoes, all that was left were twigs 😲😲

Needless to say I was not happy !! They were non the worse for it...

Me though, very ticked off, I only have a very short growing season here, and it was too late to start new plants. Next year I will fence off my plants. Who knew chickens ate anything they can get their little beaks on!

Oh and the scratch grain? Wow they went wild for that!!!
Some people feed scratch grains to their chickens (and no layer, or all flock balanced feed.) But that’s not good. It’s like a human eating snacks and candy all day for food. 10% treats maximum, is the best for the chickens 🐓

My girls had banana cottage cheese and low fat yogurt mashed in with their layers this morning. I've put plenty of mixed layers and oyster shell out with fresh water.

They managed about twenty minutes outside before bed but have been inside mostly now they are tucked into bed.

Hi folks. Ester is at the (emergency) avian vet. A different avian vet from the one who treated Ruby is going to examine her quickly before the regular avian vet arrives, at which time, they will jump into surgery. From my perspective, she is declining. I’ll let you know what they say, but suspect I’ll be going home without her today. 😔
