WiFi cameras are what they call a peer-to-peer system, when you start you camera's application to view the camera, it sends out a signal to your camera to 'wake it up' so you can view it. It doesn't run continuosly unless you are watching it continuosly.

WiFi camera required a power source to run it, when it says 'wireless' it means it has no network cable you still need a power cable. My new outdoor PTZ (pan tilt zoom) camera is wifi and it's signal is unreliable, I will be getting some network cable to direct connect to my router.

FYI using a network cable is a more stable signal than wifi. Most WiFi camera will have an option for a network cable (ethernet cable). This is what I did with my aisleway barn camera the wifi signal sucked, so I connected it with a network cable to my router and no further issues. Only problem is two cable runs, 1 for power which thankfully my stalls all have outlets, and the second cable the network cable.

U will also see POE cameras (Power Over Ethernet). These are the cameras I prefer. You do not need a.power cable with POE cameras, the ethernet (network cable) cable you connect to the camera carries both power and the signal for the cameras video and sound. You will need a special POE switch to plug the ethernet cable into which supplies the power. This POE switch is then connected to your router. I have my hen house cam which is POE, it never goes down I can always see it's video and I only needed the one cable run.

I keep my word! Arizona came up on the porch tonight, she usually does every night, (she hates it inside with the others in the coop at night. I had to stop by the church, and told her to wait with the others, and when I get back home, I will come get you. Well, I DID! She’s inside asleep on her perch by now in the chickens room.

Oh yes 🤗💖 the technology and different brands are boundless. Wish we had this technology when I worked at IBM can you imagine the fun I would have had ?! I would have never got any real work done 🤗🤗 Arlo are an awesome brand, well known and many options!

There are solar powered rechargeable batteries also. I didn't think it was a good option here were winter daylight hours were less than 7 hrs not to mention number of overcast days!

But that would be an awesome option for anyone who has no power at their coop or shed. i all of a sudden have an urge to buy more technology haha!

Very handsome boy!!:love:love
Thanks he is a home hatch, my niece hatched 7 eggs for her class last June... Guess who ended up with the chicks! That's how it starts u know.... All innocence like; you get a couple of pets silkies and then everyone seems to think youyr the chicken whisperer and they bring their chickens to you!!

This time last year I had no chickens and didn't even think about chickens! Now look at me; the crazy cluck who is up at midnight spying on not only the horses, but the rootin tootin chickens as well 😆 (FYI everyone is snug and sleeping), were I should be!
