Hens will usually only start crowing when there are no roosters present. I doubt you have any crowers.I’m going to have to get a picture of Teenies’ Spurs. She is 3 and a halfish, and she has quite the little stabbers going on! I don’t have any crowing hens I know about, but with so many cockerels and rooster around… who knows!
Thank you Bob. Please do not think I'm slipping away from fluffy butts. I love this threadThat will happen. I will add you to the list Marie
No worries Marie. This thread limits my ability to look at others. That's the nature of starting your own.Thank you Bob. Please do not think I'm slipping away from fluffy butts. I love this thread

Lozzy? Or ACM?Out and About
Well I pulled a Lozzy.
That is too day I did not close the entire complex up last night. I forgot to close the drop door.
This greeted me at the back door this morning as I went to make tea.

That’s a full-on crow!So at 6:30 AM, I just got up, as it’s a holiday so I got to sleep in. Sitting in the living room bundled under my chicken quilt waiting for the house to warm up and I could hear a cashew crowing. So I opened up the kitchen door and now you get to hear it, too. I’m pretty sure she’s doing this every day, now. At least it’s a quiet little crow.
Same here, I have had them running in and out most of the day, everytime Pangoo rumbles I run to my office door tho! Good thing I am not working, just whiningShe is out with everyone else. I moved my office to the dining room to keep track of them. Fortunately it is going up into the 60s today so I can keep the door cracked and listen to them as well. I'm going to knock off work early today and hang out with them.
They are sticking to cover and hopefully I could intervene before a hawk strike but I am taking a calculated risk today trusting them to be aware.
So how much did you freak out??!! Did that coffee go spraying about?!Out and About

After Beetov-Hen stopped laying, she grew spurs, but never crowed. (She didn’t have to, she was Alfa and just a stare was enough to keep the others in line) RIP dear Beetov-Hen![]()
