Housing and Bird Move Update

Hi, friends. Thanks for your inquiries about the move and for all your input regarding chicken housing at the new place. I have an update. We will not be moving after all.

Drumroll, please…

We bought the house we’ve been renting the past 12 1/2 years! We are beyond excited. Just got confirmation that we officially closed and recorded with the county about an our ago. We don’t have to move. My feathered babies don’t have to move. My human babies will always be able to come home to their childhood home. I feel truly blessed!
Awesome news! That made my day! :celebrate:wee:clap:thumbsup Thank you!

Welcome, Karen! Are you sure that’s a girl with those beefy legs? She’s gorgeous!
Nope not sure at all, but until I'm sure its a girl named Karen. With my Marans and Marans crosses by 3 to 4 weeks I know for sure. It will also have heavily feathered legs. I don't think I've had one hatch with as thick of chick down on their legs so far.

Are the legs themselves thick for a newly hatched chick or are the feathers making them look so?

You have some beautiful chickens there. It is amazing how quickly the number of chickens you have can multiply isn't it!

On the thread we have multiple themed picture days.

MUGS MONDAY: On Monday everyone posts pictures of their chickens faces (mugs).

2FER TUESDAY: On Tuesday we post pictures of 2 chickens in the same photo

THIRSTY THURSDAY: On Thursday we post pictures or videos of our chickens drinking

FLUFFY BUTT FRIDAY: On Friday we post pictures of the fluffy derrieres that our beloved chickens have. This is the day that started it all.

PONY SUNDAY: As we have a lot of horse owners here as well, we all get to enjoy pictures of their lovely horses on Sundays.

Please feel free to participate in any of the photo days.
You forgot Caturday. Saturdays (i.e. Caturday) is a day we can also post pics of our beloved feline friends. Note: any chicken pics are welcome ANY day of the week, though...right @BY Bob ?

A lot of it has to do with the feathers. This pic gives you a good idea of how much down it has down its legs.

Yes - I am worried by Bernadette who seems to have less strength in her legs than the others (I am restarting her intense vitamin regimen).
I am worried about Maggie who has had diarrhea for a month now - fecal sample found no worms or eggs and she is well in herself but it isn't right.
I am worried about DIana because of the soft shell eggs and still laying several a week.
I am worried about all the Hooligans because they don't seem very adventurous but hang out in the brooder napping. It is nothing I can put my finger on - they have moments of crazy running around - but mainly they hang out comfortably with each other napping and chatting.
And finally I am worried about everyone because the duck is back and I worry about AI.
Seriously, I am going through lots of chicken anxiety at the moment.
And last night no fewer than 3 foxes watched me lock up the Chicken Palace.

Oh, my, @RoyalChick so much stress.

For Bernadette/Hooligans, can you just add extra vitamins (particularly Bs) to their water just as a matter of course - so everyone can benefit...and will keep Bernadette (once she is back up to speed) on a maintenance level? And remember: they aren't the roadrunners, who could well have been just a more active breed....🤷‍♀️

Foxes are so pretty...from a great distance...i.e. NOT near chickens.
