Pondering asking my blacksmith to loan me her banty roo ....

Bad Kelly bad bad Kelly 😁
What breed of banty is her roo? Honestly though, you have acreage, predators and your girls free range one way or another. I think if you can get your hands on a small boy it would greatly benefit your flock. Even a young game rooster would work. I don't have them because I like multiple boys, and want them to live in harmony. But I've never met a people aggressive game rooster. They come in a wide variety of colors so there is one for everybody.

Lilly is just splendid. It is nice what you did there. It is wonderful that we will continue to have photos of Lilly on this thread. :hugs :hugs
I do think as she gets older that I have named her well. Her personality is coming out and while her sister Cricket engages with "the hooligans" in their shenanigans and trouble making she is too good for that. She stands back and watches them with a disapproving look and is quite smug and pleased with herself when the older ladies put them in their place and she is left alone. She is also very very smart. If I am sitting on the bottom step out back handing out treats Cricket runs the gauntlet darting in among the big girls. Lilly, she is under the steps sneakily having bites handed to her without anyone knowing. This girl uses her brain.

I've wanted the folks here to hear them, it's really fun! And I don't know if most chickens are this way or if it is an individual thing, or a breed thing? They narrate to each other when they forage, for instance, which I thought is an evolutionary mechanism that helps them stay in contact with each other, like chickadees do and other birds that range as a flock. I can tell when they notice something, or find something interesting or new to investigate.

So they seem quite talkative, softer or louder, most of the time. Are there really silent breeds? My sister had a conversation with them while on the phone with me, I put the phone out to them and she started imitating the sounds Peanut was making and they talked even more, as if they were answering!
You annoyed them! :old :lau

What is with Jaffar today? He’s been pecking at my shoes all morning. He acts like he’s mad at me for something! Probably about me having Dakota and Xzit inside again last night. :idunno The other chooks were picking on Dakota, so I took her away from the drama. I’m a good chook daddy, but I’m certainly not a rooster.

I hadn't seen a close-up like this of Branch...he has quite the comb!

They are all so lovely, but I think I am a bit partial to Chiquita and Ezzie...I've never had silkies, but I love the look, and the colouring of the two is just gorgeous.
Your right Branch has quite the comb. It is different then anyone else's and where it is black and he is black it is often missed in pictures.
I also love Chiquita and Ezzie's colors. Ezzie in particular I love the richness of the red and orange. I found something yesterday evening while holding him. in his tail there are now 2 green feathers. Ezzie is a boy, those iridescent green feathers just solidified it for me. A hen simply would not have them with that coloring. Chiquita while she looks 100x better now then when she arrived I believe will be stunning after she goes through a good molt. The poor girl was in rough shape when arrived and she has spent the 6 months I've had her putting on weight and re growing damaged feathers. She is now at a healthy, ok maybe a little chubby weight. All she needs is a fresh coat of entirely new feathers.
