Heavy rains overnight here, which will make the corn and mosquitoes happy hahaha.

I was up at 5am and couldn't believe someone was out in the bush behind my back paddock shooting! My horses are out there, and just what i don't need is my idiot Neighbours out poaching deer and Turkey and accidentally shooting my horses. It's barely light at 5am....

Checked the barn cams and the horses where just milling about outside the back of the barn, the chickies were ok still sleeping.

Guess I better get cracking do chores and get to work...

Who is out shooting in the dark! That is like driving fast. Something bad is going to happen. Ugh!

I've posted hundreds of pictures on this thread from the tribes in Catalonia; some of the luckiest chickens in the world with regard to freedom and care.
Unfortunately the overwhelming majority of chickens don't live like that and don't look like the lovely chickens in the pictures on this thread.

So, rather than post yet another set of pictures of privileged heritage breeds bred for the backyard chicken enthusiast I thought some pictures of the boring abused Red Sex LInks that supply the majority of the eggs people buy in the UK might be appropriate.

If I could find a way… he did seem perfectly willing to try getting inside both caravans and barns so… it’s not that much of a stretch. Of course he’s not here anymore, and I haven’t been caring for the cattle so I wasn’t really considering them… but heck those temps would have me letting even Flip inside (moms “baby lambie” and you know how I feel about sheep! These two Broodies will hopefully co parent as well as these two new mamas are. They have three chicks, but you can’t see them here so it still counts as two chickens in the photo… even if there are actually five, right?

Ok folks, we have to pause the trip down memory lane for a minute because I am stumped. We also need to revisit the "Cinnamon Queen, Isa Brown or even Red Sex-link" issue all over again. The Hooligans will be 5 months in just over a week and a half. I figured I should start looking for new eggs around the 2nd week of August maybe. I have a egg that is throwing me for a loop. Every single current laying hens egg is accounted for today except Momma hens. She lays a white egg so she does not figure into this equation. I go out to top off water and look in the corner of Russ's stall, what the heck another egg? Not only that this thing is a monster.
Here is the mystery egg beside Butter's egg. Butter also lays my biggest eggs.

I just cannot see that being a pullet egg, but good lord what else can it be? I do know in the next few days I'm going to be stalking that area to see if I can catch the culprit. I also suppose if more then one of them a day start appearing soon I'll know my answer.

Double yolk, keep an eye out for prolapse vents. Eggs that big can cause them.
