Public Service Announcement

It is not well enough understood that while tube feeding your sick chicken there are certain hazards.
Do not try and get leverage against a stuck syringe plunger by placing it upside down on the table and pushing down hard. In this instance the tube will fly off the syringe and baby bird formula will shoot into the air.
Don't worry, it is not lost. It will return to earth in big, brown, wet dollops.
It is much like if a whole flock of geese undertook a synchronous pooping exercise right over your head.

I could swear I heard Bella chuckle.

I am off to wash my hair.
I totally understand. I had a rather explosive feeding or two when taking care of my mother. I never managed to get all the formula off the ceiling or out of the carpet.

Playing Dead

These Rascals have developed a new game which involves scaring the life out of me. I know who the instigator is.

Her Name is Gucci.

The game is........

Play Dead

The first time I saw her like this I was certain she had passed. Her one leg was even sticking up in the air a little.

This was bad enough, once I figured out she wasn't dead simply laying around like this. But now she has Lady Featherington doing it.

Again my heart stopped. This is not fun.

I have never had any other chickens lay like this when not sunbathing. I am pretty certain that Gucci started doing it to take pressure off her hocks as she is still sitting a lot because of her leg.

Still, I wish they would come up with a better joke to play on me.
I am sorry to chuckle, but I have had that happen to me also! I feel your shock.

When I first got chicks and I had them outside, one of them threw themselves down and threw out it’s wings and legs, I screamed I thought it had keeled over dead ! When I screamed it jumped up and ran over to me ‘for protection’ hahahaha

The first time I saw them dust bathing I was more cautious and called my niece and said omg it’s flopping around in the dirt having spasms 😳 of course she superciliously told me ‘Aaunt Kelly get a grip, it’s dust bathing’.

I went online and goggle chickens dust bathing 🤪🤪🤪🤪

Further update on Xzit: I took her and the box outside. she jumped out of the box, and ran out into the yard (somewhere) Then I took the egg and hid her box. I haven’t seen Xzit since! :idunno I’m hoping that she shows herself again soon. She got chased off by the others.:(
Oh dear 😟

Hope she comes out of hiding soon. It might be best to just let her stay in the box but no eggs, get her off twice a day to eat drink poop. I have found that strategy works for me.
