Hope she comes out of hiding soon. It might be best to just let her stay in the box but no eggs, get her off twice a day to eat drink poop. I have found that strategy works for me.

Xzit update: she’s inside the coop, and was setting on a golf ball. Ohhhhh no, you don’t, I told her, and removed the golf ball too.

Why they do this to us is just unknown. The number of people who have looked at my chickens and said “OMG! Is that chicken ok?!? What’s wrong with it?” I mean really, some of the weird positions the put themselves in View attachment 3187078View attachment 3187081
Not action shots, not dust bathing… just lying around in the most awkward positions being weirdos!

They are nuts aren't they! I am unusually susceptible to this bad joke based upon my recent outcomes with pullets.

I find it less funny than I might otherwise.

Public Service Announcement

It is not well enough understood that while tube feeding your sick chicken there are certain hazards.
Do not try and get leverage against a stuck syringe plunger by placing it upside down on the table and pushing down hard. In this instance the tube will fly off the syringe and baby bird formula will shoot into the air.
Don't worry, it is not lost. It will return to earth in big, brown, wet dollops.
It is much like if a whole flock of geese undertook a synchronous pooping exercise right over your head.

I had to remove all the ceramic eggs too. Betty did not like that. She trusted none of the nest boxes after that.

Tina and Princess have had a good half of a water melon today and right now having their favourite, spiced up sardines. Just trying to let them know they are very much loved

Come to my place, there’s plenty to do.
Horse combing, chicken sitting, airplane trips. And lots of church functions (today we’ll be having a bbq!)

Ya- I hear ya. Now when I see horses running I close my eyes. My horses are not allowed to run. Too risky might hurt themselves… or me!

Better check for tennis balls and light bulbs
