I checked for that. I’m still watching over her (it’s a long night) I can extend her wings outstretched, and she can retract them herself. But the pain is there. I can tell, because I know my birds.

I do have some other hobbies (chooks are more of a lifestyle) but I like horses, museums, social gatherings at our parks. I’m into planes and trains, automobiles (no snakes haha!) and I’m a big WW2 history buff. Many people shy off from me, because I have experience at so many different types of living. Being a retired US civil servant, Kinda yanks peoples crank. But I feel fine about what I have done for humanity. I have many friends that truly love me, and trust me. I’m not on a rant here, just can’t sleep (I’m by Dakota’s side) hoping that she stays asleep. When my friends here on BYC lose a dear pets, it does affect me too. I’m not one to show so much emotion, but I’m real, and I hurt, and sometimes cry. I’m human I guess?

Rest in Peace my bella Bella

My beautiful Bella has died.
She was my dream chicken companion.

Always fashion-forward, her black snakeskin boots coordinated perfectly with her gorgeous blue, green, and purple, black feathers.

She was my first ever lap chicken. She was indescribably soft to touch, and right to the end she was grooming my hair and snuggling into my neck for a nap.

She was a loyal friend to Bernadette and stuck with her for months when she couldn't walk. In turn, Bernadette has been a constant visitor and companion for Bella.

She fought hard against the virus that killed her but it was all just too much. In the end she died peacefully and quite rapidly. She was close by her friends Bernadette and Lulu, and I was sitting with her. I hope she felt neither pain nor fear.

Bella now has a bottomless freezer filled with frozen corn, and I am left with a Bella-shaped hole in my heart.

Bon voyage Bella Dracula. You will always hold a special place in my memories.

RIP Bella. RC I'm so sorry for your loss
