I was giving up but my old friend has found away I can take the coop when I move, hopefully soon, if at all 🤞 this time my home would be just by him.
He's a very clever guy, sometimes too clever. He works his butt off for me and threatened me Iltyst I must not ever try to pay him again. :barniestubborn mule.

We have never agreed, but we get on very well even though we have more differences than holes in a flour sieve.

He's just got my hose pipe and tap fixed he's a grumpy precious đź’Ž
Take him to dinner (us guys like that)!

Oh somehow in all this I forgot to mention I seem to have done something to my wrist (dominant hand). I can barely use my hand. Ugh.
I have strapped it up with vet wrap that I took out of the chicken first aid kit.
Perfect excuse just to sit with the chickens as I can’t do much else useful!
I so hope it heals fast for you. :hugs :hugs

I don’t know how I will feel. I suspect I will get another black chicken. I have always had black cats since I was a little girl. Sometimes more than one at a time!
I remember them all and they were all unique characters, but somehow the spirit of the earlier ones lived on in the later generations.
Hopefully the spirit of Bella will shine through another black chicken in my future.
I'm happy to read this. Don't rush it, you'll know when the time is right for another black hen. I offered before you got Bella, and the offer can still stand to hatch out a black chicken for you.

Came home yesterday to find Pear hunting grasshoppers around the hedge separating the lawn from the drive. Spent some time hunting with her (sharing my catches with the rest, trying to get them to come join, no luck, maybe today) and playing sentinel while she kept hunting. Went inside to make dinner and catch up here, saw RC and Greg's sad news.

Went out to close the coop later. No Pear, but this has become a frequent occurence.View attachment 3209995
Maizie is also the first one to eat out of my hand.. she took a ride into the coop...twice last night. Anyway, Pear missing....hadn't heard a ruckus, most of the girls settling (boys not so much) so started looking...circling the house and garage....grasshopper hunting areas....no Pear....she's down in the neighbor's horse pasture on the other side of their corral, hunting hoppers. Headed down (feather footed loving son saw and came to join me), she started back up...View attachment 3209996Paused for a drink, the horses aren't bothered and neither is sheView attachment 3209997View attachment 3209998She does watch her step coming back up the hill and here's whyView attachment 3209999
Hector was waiting for her upon her return. She still wants nothing to do with him, so I wound up chasing him off so she could get into the coop where he cornered her again....and Cheetah hopped down and chased him out. She hopped up to roost, finally safe from the Brat. Kren is fast following in Hector's footsteps. The next couple of months (at least) are going to be dramatic.
Wonderful story. Some chickens just have that wandering gene it seems. 🥰
