I just happened to see a link to this article over on Facebook. My first thought was one of trepidation when I read the headline, but then I read the article and thought it could be a good solution, except that there are hundreds of thousands ISA Brown boy chicks that are 'disposed of', and given that this farmer grew out his rescued cockerels for 147 days instead of 42, that's a lot of room that boy ISAs are going to be occupying! If it becomes part of the solution, along with sexing eggs before they hatch, that would be good, it would definitely better than what's happening now. 'Shredding' is the reason I stopped eating shop eggs.
