Failed Trim

Tonight's trim went very badly. I thought that Gucci might get used to this process but she fought like crazy tonight. Of course my first cut pierced a stem and she started bleeding like crazy. She was throwing her head around trying to avoid the scissors. Blood was everywhere. It was a complete fiasco. A little trimming got done but all three of us are traumatized.

Just awful.

Im so sorry . Is it OK to take it as Gucci grew stronger and healthier in general?

I only want to thank God for another day of survival for my chooks in the heat of the day 105f. I’m done for the day now. I’m hoping that the bloody feather situation will have answers soon. How stressful that must be.

Glad you all survived another day. Here is hoping that the sun comes out tomorrow, tomorrow, there's always tommo....ooops...um....the sun comes out less strong tomorrow, tomorrow, ther.... oops, hmm better sign off before @Ponypoor sees this post and complains that my earworm is contagious.

My sweet 'Crop Girl' I'm perpetually afraid she will get pendulous crop now, so I moniter her regularly...so far, so good!

Do you trim Phyllis? Perhaps you don't need to trim her again for a long time? How about turn off all the lights but you guys use the red lights, while being extremely careful?

I would be much more afraid trying to trim with red light only. I'm working around her eyes and I have trouble finding them with bright light. I can't imagine doing it in low light.

A brave dog groomer? I am only half joking. She will be more subdued with a stranger and in a strange place.

I said that to Mrs BY Bob. I wonder if the vet would groom her head feathers? I don't know if I can do that again.

Was going to save these mugs for Monday, but sounds like you need a teaser. My MIL sent pics of her babies (same hatch as Lark, Indigo, Whiskey, Kren, Horus, Pippa and Maizie).

Horus has a full brother

And she has some pretty pullets that we don't know if are from her girls or mine. If hers, Bielefelder is likely the hen. They could be Horus' full sisters, too. Not sure, but pretty little ladies.

Saving the others for Monday.

Instead of trimming why not put it pulled back with a pony tail holder? Don't use elastic band though.

I was going to trim Pompeii but he has been molting and his head is full of those pin Feathers and I was afraid of that happening to me. I am going to try pulling it back with a pony tail holder .

Not to worry she will be ok, might be you're more tramatized than she is glad she isn't white!
