Oh no. What is the matter with her? Is the vet not able to help sort her out?
:hugs :fl:fl:hugs
Vet said she could operate and attempt to remove an obstruction in the intestine, but the operation isn’t guaranteed success. My veterinarian has had little success with this kind of obstruction. If it’s inside where it cannot be reached, Chaco maybe die right then. I have been warned about this, and it’s my decision now. I don’t know what to do.
The actual procedure is too graphic to explain here on BYC

It sounds sort of similar to the choice I had to make for Caramel. As you know, she died throughout the operation. But I couldn't bear the idea of not trying and seeing her die thinking I hadn't tried something that could maybe have saved her.
I followed my deeper feeling and although it ended up being the wrong choice, I still think it's important to do what seems the less unbearable to you, should the issue not be what you hope.

I can't find the right words to say how sorry I am you have to go through a choice so hard. And I really, really hope Chaco will make it.

It's a damp foggy Monday here, making it hard to finish working on the barn's roof, but we don't really mind as we are very glad to get some rain.
How are you @featherhead007 and @BY Bob ? My thoughts are with you 💚.

Here are some Monday mugs before the rain began.

He is giving me the stinky eye ! Evil Théo😈.

And Chipie is too! She may have heard on beakbook that I've been gossiping about her dual love life.

Léa is too sweet to know what stinky eye means

And Merle was falling asleep next to her

Cannelle hates cuddles but she could spend hours pecking me

And Gastounet had a tub spa to relax after being chased to death by Théo.

Cannelle is in 💕love💕, if she grooms you for hours. You must be her BFF!

Lovely photos, and stink eye or not, Theo and Chipie are lovely, even if not sweet like Lea (who is pretty, too.)

The preening party the other day warranted saving this pic. Silver was carefully preening Pear's feathers, specifically the hard to reach ones.
I just love it when they preen each other. So sweet! I love seeing your flock, too!

So you can do the surgery and she may make it or die or you can put her down? Personally I would try the surgery first but it's up to you. Prayers to you both! :hugs :hugs :hugs 🖤❤️

Hi, everyone! Happy Saturday! I hope everyone’s doing well. My girls are out free ranging at the moment as I clean up some more of the brush from the oak trees have been working on. So guess what? Apparently Word on the street is that I am the chicken lady. Today I was able to drain 60 cc of fluid off a very sick hen with aacites. She’s a rescued hen of a friend of a friend. Poor little girl is in bad shape, but I think we did provide a little relief and I’m going to try to help this family make sure she gets more nutrition to build her strength. Long-term prognosis might not be great, but it would be nice if she got to really enjoy life for a while before she goes. Feeling happy to have hopefully provided a tiny bit of comfort to a chicken in need.
So awesome for you to help other chickens!!

There’s a hospital in Colorado with a much more experienced staff, but Chaco can’t make the trip all that way there. I’m offering to bring the surgeon from there to help Chaco here. I’m waiting on his reply.
What a mess this is!
:hugs :hugs I'm so sorry for you and for Chaco. :fl:fl That whatever you decide, you can be at peace with the choice. 🙏 That Chaco has a good outcome...even if it means a bit of recovery time for her.
