Are you on Vacation

Hope you didn't log into work and wonder why no one was nagging you to 'update the spreadsheet'....

I'm traveling to a conference. It felt like Monday this morning.

BTW, I mentioned earlier that is was 28F around dawn this morning. It's gone up more than 20 degrees. 52, and still rising. Beautiful sunny day.

Cheetah standing watch under the French lilac, several ladies with him...and most of the girls too.

Nellie looking good, Storm looking pretty miserable, Blanche still tatty, PITA miserable but improving, and Lark looking very close to laying (had a white egg the other day, but not small enough to be a pullet egg).

And Horus tidbitting like crazy (Kren and Whiskey both discovered good things too), all attempts were ignored.

Jessica seems to be migrating into Hector's girl rather than Cheetah's.....

Primula and

Nox enjoying some sunshine, supervised by Hector, but with the Idiots orbiting near by.

Asphodel and Twirp were working on eggs (or at least going through the motions) and Thing was having a bite in the coop. But where are Silver and Pear? Started looking around slowly, checking down below to no avail. On my way back up, caught Pippa being curious

Circled the garage, checking the carport....no....

They found the residual warmth from the fire last night.

Storm has been in the area too.

They're feeling better, still have a ways to go on the moult, but dandelion greens and pea tree seeds are the mid morning forage of choice.

He was a surprise chick. I believe he is a barred rock.

I am trying to learn how to differentiate different breeds so this sparked my interest apparently the cuckoo marans have white feet and skin but the barred rocks have yellow feet. They look so similar talk about making it hard! Check the bottom of his dino toes maybe that will help solve the riddle?

Oh that hawk was FAST! Holy Dinah! just like those fighter jets - swoooosh, zoooom, and it twisted away at the last moment. And was gone! I MEAN SO FAST! and its wings were steady, and it was so trim and amazing really! Didn't flap once - just swooped in, down and twisted back up so fast.

But it so freaked me out. I really need to get the Hen Run covered - but until I can get a project making better moolah that will have to wait. So they are all inside for the time being.

That's how they work. Swoosh. There and gone unless they connect.

She is a sweet girl and craves attention. She's had a good day today. Her own breakfast of scrambled eggs covered in chicken broth and my breakfast of steak and eggs and now my lunch of ham n cheese quesadilla.

Fairly warm Sunday:

Let the Tweens come out to do some supervised free ranging… tomorrow they will hit their 11th week. They grow up like lightning fast!

Powder all fluffed out for the sun
