Ugh! Why oh why? Diana has started to molt. Feathers everywhere. It is still quite warm and looks to stay that way for 10 days so I am hoping she hurries up and gets over it.
And to make matters worse, Bernadette is also molting. What is that about? I thought they didn't molt their first winter. But there is no doubting it because her feathers are a different color and they are everywhere too!

Hattie seems to be finishing her molt up. I thought she was done but new wing feathers are coming in along with some on her back by her tail. She also doesn't have her hips back yet. She is back to laying around again.

I've recently bought eggs (free range) they were round? What does that mean?

Aurora is straight up miserable right now and she is taking it out on anyone who comes into reach.

I can't believe that hens are foolish enough to come into her sphere of reach. But they do. I watched Aurora line up a shot on Betty today. She bent her head down, cocked it to the side, lined up her shot, and pecked Betty right in the wattle. Betty shrieked and ran off. She had stood still while Aurora slowly lined up the shot.

Phyllis got wacked a few times today. She would just wander within reach and POW!

Glynda would toy with Aurora. Zipping through her sphere before Aurora could react. It was like she was "counting coup" today.

One hen that Aurora allowed near her was Lady Featherington. She could walk right up to Aurora today. There is some level of respect or friendship developing there.

Really though Aurora does not hassle the Rascals much at all.

If you are referring to my saying about antibiotics being my last resort, then yes.

I answered I didn't know if they should be used for bad throats. In Tina's case I felt they were a necessity because she's an exbat and the position of a potential infection.
By the way she's back on form again.

Anyway, when Lilly had that nonspecific low grade infection, we treated with an antibiotic and she pushed up after a couple of days.

It looks like a lash egg.

I honestly believe it was now shad. It looks as if she had passed that infection but I've treated her with Amoxicillin as a precautionary plus battery hens have been treated with these their whole battery life...

Tina has been with me 14 months now bless her and she is looking good today

Good too see you again. I'll get into your thread one day there's been a million things going on in my life here but I always come here when I can

I still think the dark one is a golden wyandotte. The chippy behind it in the 1st 2 pics has a rose comb too. That ones a bit of a puzzler. There aren't many reddish toned breeds with rose combs...

Ya this is crazy! At least we have nice weather at the moment, hope it hangs around till the end of the month though!

I have catbirds too. They mob the hawks.

There are a couple nosey crow that have been hanging around here - I guess since I have been ‘home’ I have the gals out roaming all afternoon so they kick up quite a racket and the chickens keep an eye on them.

But seems Henny and Dorothy do not like them roosting in the trees above them haha!
