Finally, I feel like I am a real chicken servant. The coop is completed AND the run is fully wired in. I left them in the run unattended this afternoon for the first time. It is both lovely to be able to do so and scary, I think I did enough to keep them safe but does one ever know for sure?
I went out at dusk to let them in but they had already put themselves to bed and were all roosted. 6 of them were crowded close together on or around the short crooked roost bar … why that one? I can not fathom for the life of me but it sure did make me laugh. Silly chickens!
All I have left is find or construct some nesting boxes for them but I have some time for that, as it’s doubtful I will see any eggs until Februaryish.

Can we see pictures or even have a video tour of the run and coop?

Thanks. The terrible part was I kinda lead someone to think that something nice would happen, but I let him down despite my best effort. He hasn't replied to my emails :-(
(I suppose I was too naive. My colleagues want to hire mediocre people like themselves, not competent ones.)
That is an awful feeling. I'm so sorry :hugs :hugs :hugs

I'm really sorry to hear about work :hugs

That said, I would be concerned about those chooks! They look like they are angling to sneak on BeakBook, while 'pretending' to help you with work!

"Yeah, quick start typing...I'll be the look-out"

Oh wait, danger, danger....look nonchalant!!

Oh, hi servant! Nothing to see here, nope nothing to see. Didn't you have some treats to get us??
Well played. :clap :clap :gig :gig :gig

A good chunk of that is moulting: Silver, Pear, Jessica, Thing all are staying close to the coop (easy to avoid the idiots and the wind). Storm still has the Idiots intimidated as does Twirp, so both go where they like. Cheetah ventures forth, so Blanche, Cuckoo, and Nellie all stick with him. PITA bounces between sticking with Cheetah and hiding in the coop. The younger girls....aren't moulting, are laying or almost, so are still finding their way. The Idiots get dragged all over on escort and respond to any lady protesting attentions from anyone else. Hector has gotten pretty good at chasing the younger boys, but they get their chances when Cheetah goes for Hector. The Sussex and Brahma girls stay pretty close to Hector, while getting mauled when Cheetah chases him.

Once they're all done moulting, we'll see which ladies go where. (Whiskey has a girl or 2 try to stay near him). Not sure at this point which is the bigger game changer: moult, or winter.
It is quite fascinating. I know you will keep us apprised.

Oh that would be so lovely for you 🥰

The clocks go back this weekend (don’t they?) it will be a shake up with chores here…
I believe so. I trust my phone to change on its own these days. Then I reset my clocks. 😆

Time Tax, Phyllis trying to bend time she is running so fast!
