Google translate is NOT helpful on the rooster sound. Even writing the character it comes out as whoa-whoa-whoa (oh, oh, oh is the character translation) which isn't helpful if you're familiar with pinyin (the Chinese phonetics, including tone marks)" Cocorico"!
"What???"

I need to hear the Chinese pronunciation...wonder if it's the same in Mandarin, Cantonese, and other languages?

I only got pictures of Gaston and Merle drinking before it started raining. We're supposed to get a storm this afternoon and temperatures are supposed to drop below freezing next week- at last, five weeks late.
Unfortunately Théo and Cannelle are taking forever to molt and Nougat just joined them. My coop has many problems but it's good at staying relatively stable regarding temps, as it's a half buried ceiling, so I'm not worried about cold. The fact that Théo won't let Gaston approach the coop poses a problem when we have heavy rain or storms ( which is probably going to be very rare if the drought continues), as the best bushes and trees to take shelter are all around the coop.
Merle shows green shimmer on one side and blue-purplish from the other

How cold?Note to room: cold starts on a C172 are tricky. And wear the poor girl down. But I have to go.
Some lessons are hard learned but they need to be learned.I knew it was bound to happen, my idiot got whipped by his daddy yesterday.

This knothead thought it would be a smart idea to jump one of the momma hens. She shrieked and Branch rolled him. The big baby came running to who other but ME. Seeing as how Branch was hot on his heels I scooped him up. We had a long talk about the error of his ways. How I would not always be around to save him so he had better start making smart decisions and to never mess with the momma hens. When I put him down Branch came out of nowhere to administer another stern peck to his head to get his point across. The rest of the afternoon he did leave the momma hens alone. It was a good thing too, because now, he is being watched very closely by Branch ready to pounce if he puts a toe out of line.

Remind me, what kind of hens are Sugar and Flour? They are very cute. Some pictures today, they were near the waterer lol but none had any sips and it was so chilly I gave up and headed inside. Maybe it still counts??
Snicker my one constant lap chicken. She doesn’t like to be touched to much but she almost always comes up for a visit

Peanut Butter oh my this girl … she so wants to be in charge of everything but she is the smallest of the bunch however she is super fast and is always starting stuff she cant finish but she can run from! I should have named her spit and vinegar as she has both in ample supply.

Oreo: He is still calm as cucumber and is a benevolent leader so far. The girls all seem to love him and he is usually surrounded by them. Its hard for me to nab a oic of just him! The color changes his feathers have gone through is astounding!
