Hattie Roosted!

Here is tonight's final roosting in the Main Coop.

Hattie has finally roosted. I put new straw and ceramic eggs in the nest boxes and no one wanted to sleep in them. I guess I had that backwards. 🤷‍♂️

Here is 7 minutes of roosting from tonight. It's not the full thing but you can see how everyone wins up where they are in the photo. Aurora just had to peck Hattie before bed. So intimidating.

When I don’t have
Hope you don't go stir crazy. I can't imagine living there for 6 mos. without some sort of a kitchen! The view is gorgeous!
if I don’t have a kitchen I have an induction cooktop and countertop oven I bring with me and keep in the offfice. I can whip up lots of stuff on that! I am an extremely fussy eater so I suffer if I can’t cook myself.

No time to go stir crazy we work 12hr days, sundays off. It will be tough on sundays here because I can’t get to town easily.

Glad others have these bedtime dramas!

I swear I am going to have to start secretly recording myself and mom's conversations. Out of the blue she asked me when did we get the Rural king chicks. I told her first week of February. She then goes I thought so. Followed by the first hen that went broody the first week of February that was not momma hen she wanted me to set with 2 eggs. I asked her why. Her response floored me. She just told me she is going to let the hen hatch off 2 of her own and the minute they start hatching she is running to Rural King for 6 more buff orps. That is why the hen cannot be Momma hen, she would never get to touch them to make them friendly. I think I have broken her, for the longest time she swore I had too many chickens when the number went over 5. Now well, she does not care what the number is she needs more orps.
I wish my mum would get interested in my chickies! Just think of all the chickens I would have then!!! Hahaha!

Do a search for Chin Inn Open Camp 😊

It’s 152km down the Chinchaga Forestry Road.

I will get pics of the road (track through the bush really) and post. And esp the ‘single lane bridges’ with only a 12” guard rail! Yeehaa! Don’t go over that!
Ooh, found you! Thanks Stalk.... er, I mean Google. ;)

Today it’s very warm here at +5C (40f ?), and there is hardly any snow if there is 2” right now that’s as much! It’s very scary because if there is a lack of snow it means lack of moisture and could be a horrible forest fire season.

Also not good to be warm as the spruce bud worm need at least -35C for 3 weeks to kill them off. They have destroyed millions of hectares of trees causing even further fire risk.

It’s not good inthe north with all this crazy weather!

Oh I love my cameras! I want to put some in we’re I have my horses boarded but not sure if the people will let me. The horses I miss terribly as I can’t log in and check on them like I can the chickens.

Yes, it has been very mild. It has been nice though for the hens who are having serious moults this year. I am seeing less feathers falling now, so hopefully they will fill in soon.

Penny loves it when I sit on the ground, so she can warm her toes on my lap!

Yes I can see she isn’t her usual sleek self, my gals have been the same way! What is it this year with all this heavy moulting?!
