One could put in train-style flip-down bunks. You'd have to either drill into the concrete to hold them (would that lower the safety integrity?) or have some kind of scaffolding in place. I bet there are "bunks for bunkers" retrofits.Any way to create bunks so there's more "room" in the same size space? As for the chickens, present the argument that they are needed because if a tornado wipes out the house (and rest of the area), their eggs will potentially be needed as a food source/income source while rebuilding. (And the upper "bunks" could be caged for the bird space)
