Its 3:41 am I've been up since 2 am and had a headache but took meds and it's gone. Thinking about how and when to move the chicks to the coop. Have a large dog kennel so will keep them in there for a week and then let them mingle with the rest of the flock. Soon I'll have them all outside.
That’s awesome - isn’t it a wonderful feeling when they have grown up to be big and healthy 🥰

Can’t wait to see pics of them ❤️💕

I have a specific question regarding vitamin supplement. I would really appreciate if you have some opinion on this, or just if you can correct any language mistakes so my post is understandable before I put it in the emergency/ disease forum. Thank you so much 💚.

I've been wanting to give vitamin supplement for Blanche, my hen that has been attacked by a hawk. The one I usually get takes ten days to order online so I asked my partner to buy one at the pet shop. The supplement he brought back is meant for birds, not poultry, to be taken post anticoccidial treatment. It seems to me that the amounts of vitamins are incredibly higher that in my usual supplement, but recommended dosage is the same : a spoon in a liter of water.
Do you think I can give this, maybe with a more diluted dosage, or should I just order my usual stuff and wait ten days ?
Here are the labels (UI and IE =french and German initials for the same pharmacology international unit).
First label is my usual poultry vitamin.

Second label is what my partner bought.

Tax : Lea says reading labels gives her headaches.

One thing I noted was that that original one (you ordered online) states it’s for birds like canaries, parakeets, etc - so smaller birds than chickens - that may be why the dosage is less.

The one your partner picked up made a specific comment regarding pigeons a much larger bird, I would suggest if you are worried then maybe increase the amount of water to 1.25L.

How is Blanche feeling today? Is her voice any better?

How are you today? @Ponypoor had a headache yesterday to, as she said it might be all these weather changes.

I couldn't reply Kelly as my page closed for some reason

I hope that you have both recovered today ❤
Hi Marie! Hope you are good 😊

Yes thanks I feel better, it’s raining cats and dogs here 🐈‍⬛ 🐩 ❤️ I need to get my mum’s truck up to the barn to unload feed, shavings and play sand (to top up the sand pit for dust bathing.

It doesnt have 4 wheel drive so need to get it done now before the frost melts in the ground!

Yes, good idea I can give them scrambled eggs for methionin. Egg is one of the food with a very high methionin content, no wonders hens need it so much.
My ex-batts are eating almost only layer feed now. There's not much grass in winter in their yard, and anyway they don't want to come out of the coop for long because they are scared. I could germinate lentils for them also. The only fresh vegetables we have left apart from squashes and pumpkins is kale, and some hard to chew chards and radishes tops.

My molting girls enjoy scrambled eggs also 😊

Also sardines and meat (roast beef, steak, pork chops…)

I bought cabbage and huge carrots for them, and we give left over vegetables fro supper.
