Wow Guinea’s are big birds for a hawk to try and take!

I asked my dad to show me how to make things 😊 reverse psychology haha. He showed me how to use all sorts of tools as a youngster (it helped that he had no sons so my sister and I had to learn things!). So I learnt how to build a boat, put an addition on the house, roofing, fencing….

My mum tried to show me how to knit (@Grandma The Chicken can knit!), but I never had the patience for it! Building a boat was more fun!

I suggest maybe asking your dad to show you how to build things then the two of you can work on things together!
Spring together on it is a fabulous strategy. Nothing made me more excited than working with my daughter on a project like that.

I am way behind, I hope she is doing okay so far and hasn't lots those tips. I hope to read further if you've made changes and what they are, that may answer my questions so I'll wait. Try to remind yourself: she is alive and not disabled, not even horribly injured, and I think that is the bottom line in all things Chicken.
I have ordered a second heater for the Cluckle Hut as an interim solution. I have looked very carefully at the Cluckle Hut and there is really no place I can really add ventilation easily. So for nights when it is in the 20s I will have a heater on her. Any colder than that and everyone is living in the big coop. I will move them at roosting time the first night.

It would not have been so bad. Except it was a brand new white one that mom got for Christmas. Let's just say it is not so pretty and white anymore. I sprayed it off with the water hose and have it in a bucket in the bathtub soaking in bleach. Who do I blame if she spots it before I get it washed. Chiquita for being broody or Russ for jerking it off my head.
Or maybe you for using it and taking a brand new WHITE towel outside? Just saying. 🤷‍♂️

I put two of my male baby guineas out for a little today, and my adult guineas were chasing them all around. I thought that I was gonna lose both of the baby's 😅 I ended up needing to grab them both by the tail to catch them 🙄 it worked for one, but the other got loose, and I needed to chase him all around for like 30 minutes. Like, he ran about 1 acre of my land... it was SO fun!! 😅🙄

Today's egg haul.View attachment 3364304The light brown one on the lower right is small enough to be new(ish) layer. Problem is I've no idea if it's from the pullets or one of the adults first egg post moult. If it's a pullet, it has to be Brahma or sussex (and I'm 90% positive both Nox and Mera have been laying)....

This is the first day of more than 1-2 (if that many) since the deep cold just before Christmas....it also puts my current egg count at approx 7.5 dozen. As another lady I work with is interested in eggs (they hit over $5/dozen here this week commercially), it's a good thing. On the other hand, I have no trouble telling people no eggs available at the moment so it all works.

On rooster behavior today, I saw Horus chase off Cheetah multiple times, but I also saw Cheetah go after Hector. Someone mentioned the speed of Leghorns (Horus has his mother's build). Cheetah left him in the dust......with ease....
Those eggs look huge! It must be the perspective.
