Yes I remembered that - but if Betty would get up on a roost then the trick is to provide shading so it doesn't light up where Aurora is - sort of a lamp shade.
I was just thinking maybe a string of mini lights on a timer to light up the roost after dark. 🤔 Enough light to see the roost but not enough to light up the area.

Seems like you have moved into chicken algebra. 😉
Ya.... I have it bad. Being in camp gives one time to think haha!

I was so wanting some of those Sultans but not if they are straight run boohoo! But the Legbars are still looking good to me. Anyways Spring is a long way off, and I don't know what will happen after this project. I might have to jump right into another project, which will suck. I will have to hire someone to finish the run in that case :( Can't have the chickies stuck inside in nice weather. We have a wonderful Mennonite community that does lovely work - I am sure they know how to do chicken runs !

Have you carefully 'combed through' all her feathers to be sure she doesn't have a puncture wound? if she did get one, they are sometimes quite hard to clean out and she might have an infection. She also might have gotten her cornea scratched - it might not show, but it would hurt some ( @micstrachan might be able to comment on that and the healing process...unfortunately she has personal experience with that.)
@ManueB do you have any antibiotics on hand? It might be worth trying a course of antibiotics in case there is a wound you can't see.

How are you going to cut that roofing steel?
Tin snips or angle grinder. I'm not certain which I will need to use yet.

OK all the network here is bogged down again - so I will wish everyone a good night.

Tomorrow I am heading to town (Peace River - 3.5hrs away), need to pick up some stuff and get some junk food hahaha. I will check in on @RebeccaBoyd tomorrow to see how Momma is making out, and see how By_bob is doing with his project.... Night all!

Can you remove the door roost so Aurora can't get to the high roost? That would force her to Daisy's roost, and thereby allowing Betty to roost!?!?
At first i thought you had arrived at the solution. Then I remembered that Sydney could not roost up there. She needs the door roost as well to get up.
