I have two kinds. Regular Victor snap traps that I reuse a few times before discarding. And fancy electric ones which are really easy but seem to break down after a while. The electric ones are safe around pets. The snap traps need to be covered somehow or other.
I also have the elect zap ones and there in the Fall there was a couple weeks I was getting a couple rats a night! Cant wait to get home - seeing them in the barn after the kiddos go to bed is frustrating 🤨

Im especially worried about the snap traps around here because i have some very tiny Japanese bantam chicks with broody chickens hatching them.

I would use catch and release for larger animals and i would walk outside seeing the baby chicks all running in the cage stepping on the sensor trap.
The broody hen was having a panic frenzy but her rebellious little chicks wouldn’t listen because mom can’t fit so she can’t bust them!

She did her little chirps calling them out and they were talking away paying no mind, then all of the sudden she made a very loud chirp that seemed angry. They all stopped and ran under her in awkward silence. They never did it again after that.
That’s amazing!

I wish I had a coop cam and I am also simultaneously glad I do not. I go in every evening to do a head count and look them over and the arrangement I find them in changes nightly. The only constant is Oreo is always surrounded by the girls but which ones are closest change. I swear its like they take turns. I agree they are crazy!
I have one. Im a little concerned though.
Day one with it consists of a picture taken roughly 4 times a minute (over 800 by morning) Peep was on his spot resting for the night, then next video (does NOT show how he got down) shows his face in the camera pecking at it.

Then the ladies flung dirt on it and tried to sit on it. I swear these chickens.
