So, I am going to be just as on the fence as you.....s/he's comb is far larger than the pullet's in the second pic....but far smaller than the clear cockerel's. It could be an early developing pullet, or a late developing cockerel. I have seen both with mixed groups of chicks. Especially the latter when there is a clearly dominant cockerel - the others() tend to develop a bit more slowly, especially in a small group (versus a group of 30 chicks)
I cannot even go by behavior with these. The brats all want to be the dominant chick, and even the 2 obvious pullets go at it at times. I guess I am going have to keep a super close eye on its feathering. If it is a male, I expect it to have marans coloring. If I see any copper coloring coming in on it's backs or wings that will be a dead give-a-way. I guess I can wait roughly 2 more weeks.

Be careful of your headlines. “I lost Phyllis tonight” scared me. My blood pressure jumped up higher than RC’s roosts!
I panicked at first, too...as I saw it in Rebecca's reply....I almost started crying...
phew, that was a very close call to my ticker!:th

I am soooooo glad to have read 'the rest of the story', though!:thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup:love:love:love:thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup
