Chilly but the SUN ☀️ has finally made an appearance! We had to go outside and take some photos.

Brownie saying hello and taking a flight/hop off my daughter’s shoulder.

I love when the sun turns the blue feathers pewter!

Went outside and threw some wood together for a box toy for chooks. Everytime an ancona lands on me Zeus attacks me then runs when I try to catch him.

Congratulations! 3.5hrs is not so far away :) I make that trip from camp to Peace River every Sunday for groceries! Can't wait to see photos of them!

1) Quarantine: they will be pretty big at 12 weeks of age - esp being Brahmas 💕
Can you make a temporary coop for them in your garage? I am told they don't fly much so you could likely get away with a 3' wall. I would aim for a 10x10 area if you can't free range them for a couple hrs a day.

2) Integration: If you can split your run up into 2 sections, they can see but not touch each other. I did this with Mr P, he could see the ladies but not touch them.

I am sure your group will be fine with them, I am eggcited to see them when you get them! 💕
It would be 6 ish hrs in the car for me total but I think Ill probably end up driving vs shipping. The cost of shipping is likely to be nuts.

I.) I do plan on getting them out to range nearly everyday. Our property is bisected by a gully and stream. My coop is at the back of cleared land. So, I could safely supervise at least some free range time each day and maintain quarantine. I will consider how to make larger coop if problems arise so that I have a plan, the tent is 7x7. I will construct a roost for them and put in some old kids toys for them to play on. Thank you for the suggestion, its always best to be prepared as I found out with my pack n play brooder disaster.

2.) How did you divide the run? Just run a length of chicken wire? Interesting idea.

Me too it’s beautiful but its just really difficult to snap a photo that does the effect justice. The blues and purples on black chickens photographs pretty well but the metallic sheen on blue feathers has been tough to capture at least for my phone camera.

Ornery boy! Bad manners Zeus think this through she brings the treats you like treats.

All your birds are beautiful I especially like the pale silver coloring.

I let him outdoors to roam about inside the temporary fencing - I let the gals roam in the Run and he was able to see them through the temporary fencing. Of course my gals ignored him hahaha!

The new insulin pump system is here. I just have to wait to be contacted to set up training. Once I got it registered online Friday morning I was told I would be contacted in 1 to 2 business days. I'm guessing by Wednesday seeing as how Monday is a holiday. I know I have griped about my insurance making me jump through hoops in the past to cover my surgery but this time I have zero complaints. Actually I am downright thankful for it. The contents in that little box was right at $10,000 that my insurance covered completely with no extra hoops to jump through.
That's great! Glad you were able to get this ❤️

How's Goose today? Is she still broody-ish? :)

I keep waiting to see if any one of my gals is sitting in the nest boxes, but so far no one is.
