Mine is the opposite. He’s a weenie of a rooster and runs at any site of danger. He’s great to humans but not so much to the ladies.
I got lucky with my roosters but I still keep a watchful eye on them I dont quite trust them. Hades is the king and more laid back. He doesnt care if his girls sit on me as long as he gets some nookie. Zeus I watch more carefully his girls like to jump on me and as soon as they do he attacks. But I know he is just being a good rooster and looking out for his girls. When his hormones calm down he will be a great rooster so will Hades.

Todays Fluffy butts..

Soo, until about a hour ago I was not really sure just how serious Goose was going to be on going broody. Now I'm more hopeful, she has been on her nest pretty much all afternoon. Last night there were 3 eggs in the nest. I decided to test her, and see if she laid a egg today.
Before I lifted her up to do a egg count, I did get my first warning growl from her, very good sign. I've stroked her on the nest box before and stuck my hand under her with zero reactions.

Still only 3 eggs, another very good sign. If she was going to lay, she would have done it early this morning.

She bit my wrist while I was counting eggs, she has zero regrets and I am encouraged and not mad at her at all.

Now, these video's are dark, they are just for sound only. It would not surprise me to find her on the nest tonight still after everyone has went to roost. If so, that would make today day 1.
Oh she is broody! Congrats!

So excited :wee I have a broody hen on some eggs that will hatch tomorrow, i haven’t heard any chirps yet so fingers crossed everything goes well.
Will be posting some fresh fluffy butts tomorrow.
Oh that’s eggciting! Ok well I am hopeful for some nice chickies!

They are a bit older now but this is the best photo I could find
Welcome to the thread, lovely chicks. What is this broody Silky hen that everyone speaks of? I have 3 Silky hens, none have ever been broody. Easter egger mutts are a different story 😅
