Oh! Mugshot Monday, how cute
Here is Peep:

Here is Rizo: View attachment 3410824View attachment 3410825I think Rizo is the grumpiest hen ever.. 🤣 She hates shoes, watches, bracelets, any accessories and will not hesitate to peck your teeth as hard as possible. If she starts biting you though you can’t do anything except take it or she will not stop (Til she wins that is)
Oh Peep you are so cute :)

Rizo is a character and those are the best kind 💕

Spa Day for Sydney
I have really limited the times I interfere in a chicken's grooming. Unfortunately, something had to be done to help poor Sydney. Every egg she lays has been smeared with poop. Not only that, she has been pooping up every other egg in the nest box. So Sunday was determined to be spa day.

Now Sydney is basically untouchable, but you show her a Blueberry and she is right up next to you. A couple of blueberries and a flogging and I had her gathered up.

Of course there is the obligatory weigh in anytime I get my hands on one of them.

2.48 kg, 5.47 lbs

She is down a little from 2.69 kg 5.47 lbs at her last weigh in.

On to the sink.......

Thankfully Eve was here to help.

Then a towel dry and a little TV. Sydney seems to enjoy old westerns.

Then on to the blowout. Once again Eve was a huge help.

All in all a huge success!

We're actually going to a swap meet next month where, in addition to the usual antiques and junk, lots of folks have farm animals; goats, ducks...and chickens. ;)
Careful at the swaps, you don't want to bring home any diseases :(

Make sure you quarantine for at least 3 weeks; might also be a good idea to worm them (I used Revolution - Kitten/Puppy strength, which also treats for lice and mites - easy to use, just like your cat/dog it goes on their back between their wings).

And as I am sure others will comment on this:

I picked Hector out of a straight run at the feed store....looking for a roo. All I had to go on was stance, but he kept standing and looking around with the chest up and out. I think we stood there and watched the chicks for a good 20 min. The brahmas and the susses were all supposed to be pullets, and we watched them for a bit too (if I'd seen roo stances with any of those, I probably would NOT have gotten Hector, but that chick instead. The ones listed as pullets all looked/moved like pullets.View attachment 3410577@2-2.5 weeks
