Finally......Greys Anatomy! Yay

Well, in her situation, if she wanted a roo, and only 1 roo I cannot believe I am saying this but, a Game Roo would not be a bad choice. While it could be diastrous to house more then 1 together in a setting like hers, a single boy would thrive. Game roosters come in many different colors and are stunning to look at. While they can be used for evil deeds, one thing bred into them is in general non-human aggression. I personally prefer to have a flock with multiple boys so they can never be a choice for me unless I caged or tied them up separately. I have personally been around game roosters who are the only boys in a free range setting. Lovely nice boys who did their job extremely well. They are just as predator savvy and courageous in protecting their flock as a game hen is in defending her chicks. I thing they all shared in common, non human aggression, even to strangers.
Good to know if I ever need a new Roo in the future! And here is a choice for RC to get - eye candy and a good flock protector - Gold Duckwing Standard Old English (and has duckwings... :) )

3 times she has hatched in one spot. Under the hay. I am shocked she chose the hillside last time instead of underneath the hay. Her cave has been filled in and blocked off with rocks when we brought the chicks off. I'm hoping this next time around she will go back to under the hay. Interestingly enough, once the chicks were brought off after that first night, she took them to her spot under the hay to sleep.
Well hopefully she continues to use that location in that case - did I remember you saying you already have a hen of hers?

Best I can tell is that Lety traded some of the Sebright youngsters for him. He was a total surprise as we already had 2 handsome bantam Roos. I applied for my visa for the UAE yesterday so I'll be heading out next week. Ready to start a pool on how many new chickens/breeds there's going to be when I return.
Oh it's truly too bad you're so far away I would get my chicks from Lety hahahaha :)

Wow UAE - well should be nice there this time of the year, not too rediculously hot yet. My cousin went there to inspect an oil platform that was being brought to NFLD, he was there a month and thoroughly enjoyed it. They took them to see some of the sights, and experienced the local cuisine... Is this your first time there?

Fluffy as a chick/teenager - love those spikey wing feathers! And they sure hurt whey you get swatted in the eyes by them!

If could sex the little twirps I would get more silkie chicks - they are so cute and little mischief makers!

That’s too bad, I like my multi Rooster flock as well, I wonder how they would do without all the line breeding for antisocial behaviours. I can see why she wouldn’t be tolerant of Branch, despite all his charms. Definitely less survivability genetically.
Poor Branch! At least he can see better than poor Mr P ! haha!

He is really cute - and I bet he would throw a cuckoo patter if I bred him to Henny Penny hahahahaha! Or even Fluffy! Can't breed to Curly Frizzle to Frizzle is bad I am told :(

Is the ‘her’ you are talking about, actually me?
I have a feeling it is.
What is a game roo?
I hardly dare look!
It's ok, we're just looking out for the future of your lovely ladies (marrying them off to the best suitor ... you know enabling them... tee hee hee).

I feel like the enablers have shifted their attention woohoo!

This beauty is what I am suggesting 💕 ❤️ And he has duckwings!

What I wonder is if the temperament of the roos from hatcheries differ from those that I am familiar with. Hatcheries sell Old English Game chicks as do my local Rural King and Tractor Supply. I have saw a few hens purchased from there and while the hens have the same fiery temperament of Momma, they are noticeably smaller then she is. I hate my area though. You hear game, and well, it means mostly one thing. Last spring/summer a cock fighting ring was busted up and almost 100 roos were confiscated. Sadly all the boys were put down humanely. I never did hear if any received any jail time. They should have been locked up with the key thrown away.
Agreed 100% - making animals fight for human glee and fun is cruel and just plain evil.

If people (guys) want to fight amongst themselves for sport so be it... but leave poor animals out of it :(

Wait. What? Like this?!
Noooo!

Ya - no - ugh! hahahah the one I chose is true Eye Candy!

Going to pick up my silkie eggs at 6pm in taylorsville walmart. Cant wait to hatch silkies!
They are adorable, remember they are really small even when grown so you will need to keep them away from your big roosters or they might get injured. That is why I had to get rid of Pangoo (that and he started attacking my mum and the kids).

Also the silly things tend to get under foot so watch where you step! I at one point had to stuff them in my coat and carry them around with me doing chores hahaha! And give them rides in the wheelbarrow 💕

Oh if I could somehow be assured to get pullets I would have got more silkies...

Not here… we are a farm, in Canada, and they are a pest, it’s been a long time since anyone has actually hit one, but when they are harassing or killing livestock, they are fair game. I’m ok to just throw things and threaten them, point sticks at them… They have only successfully gotten one hen so far, but they do have a field day with the lambs because the mamas have twins or triplets and can’t defend them while in labour with the next one. They also drop baby goats off the cliff. 😢 thankfully they mostly feed on carrion and out of the inedible offal pit.
Duh...like most US citizens I forget the whole world isn't in this country! I actually do try to remember that. 😅
