Lovely pic of her derriere!

Wow, this picture really accentuates the difference between SS and JO! I know you had mentioned how different their body styles were, but this picture really displays it well - wow, Lady F really does have a different figure than your girl (sorry, I'm not sure who this girl is:oops:)!

It's Nox. Mera's comb doesn't have the notch in it. Otherwise I'd be stumped too. Lark and Indigo are even harder to tell apart.

Happy fluffy butt Friday!! I will probably have more photos to come later today, but here are a few I took earlier

I attempted to get a good photo of my Cochin roo, Oats, but he was not happy about it

I can’t ever get over how funny his facial expression is, he always seems so judgmental

I’ll take more later today!

Little Eli has problems
Eli has been having issues this week and I keep delaying sharing here as I have spent most days unsure if she would pull through.
It has now been almost a week and it is unclear how this will resolve and I am sharing now so you know what she is dealing with and can send good thoughts her way.

About a week ago Eli became egg bound. I spent a day and a half giving calcium, inserting lubricant, and frantically calling vets. Finally she laid an egg and was much better for a whole day.
Then it happened again. This time she spent two days straining and crying out. I have put the video in a spoiler as it is a bit distressing.

Then on Tuesday, after a morning of straining, she laid two eggs. TWO eggs!
One of them was regular sized, the other weighed 3 ounces.
The 3 ounce one was a monster of an egg and had two yolks. These photos give a sense of the comparison of the two eggs - the smaller one is a regular size egg.

Poor little girl. No wonder she was in distress!
As well as the straining I also noticed that her legs got weak. She couldn't jump up and spent 2 nights roosting down on the roost. Babs agreed to stay with her and Bernie was very well behaved.

I really hoped that the issue was resolved once that monster egg was out, but sadly she is egg bound again now. She had a good day today running around outside, but yesterday she was in the nest box straining for 2 hours, and at 4:30 this morning she flew down from the rafters in the dark and spent another 2 hours straining in the nest box.

Having talked to multiple vets there is not really anything I can do for her except hope for the best.

Poor little Eli.
:hugs :hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs
For her and for you. Like everyone I really really hope it is a young layer's glitch💚.

I've had two hens that were chronically egg bound, Vanille and Blanche. Unfortunately, I don't have any really useful advice.
Regarding weak legs, I had the feeling that when the egg is stuck they don't want to make big moves in fear of breaking it.
What we tried that made no noticeable difference : changing feed, giving calcium and vitamins in the water, giving warm baths with or without Epsom salt.
After a time all we did was give basic supportive care.We kept a dog crate always on hand so that when Vanille was too unwell she could stay there during the day and often sleep in it at night with a warm water bag. Blanche never agreed to stay in there.
I always made sure to leave water and crushed eggshells near to where they were trying to pass the egg out.

When the egg bound things went on for more than a few days, I gave scrambled eggs and yogurt in between for extra nutrition as they don't eat as much as usual.

As you probably remember Blanche survived this, though it went on for a few months. She is near the end now but it's not from reproductive disease. Vanille died from it at two years and nine months, and it began a month after she started to lay. Although she was very often in pain she enjoyed life to the fullest in the meantime and stayed alpha hen and our one and only favorite until the end.
I certainly hope Eli is more lucky than Vanille, or even Blanche, but I guess I'm trying to say don't give up on her if this goes on.

Beautiful! I know what you mean about the Roos hahaha Mr P does not like his derrière looked at!

The humiliation!! :hit
He is much better - he can actually see, I noted that he is more active now and looking at the sky as he can now see!

Oh an I also trimmmed up his spurs a bit. I didn’t realize they were so hard! More like a horses hoof than an actual nail.

I have to agree, you have something going on. I wish you the very best in your situation. I’m not feeling well either. BP medicine has been changed, and I guess I have that shingles infection again, also :(
