Happy FBF, everyone. Hope you all feel better soon and/or have better living circumstances soon (those of you in Cali!)

So hard to get good butt photos - they all face me, wanting to know what treats I'm carrying.....had to get them while they were distracted!

This one is saying... "You want a picture of my WHAT?"

Salut Kelly! I'm all good and feeling very guilty of lurking here without giving any news.
First, I want to say I'm really happy you're home! Safe and sound!
Second I really hope to hear better news from those of you with health issues @ValarieF and @featherhead007 especially.
And also, I'm so sorry the never ending rooster chick momma hen's curse has struck again @RebeccaBoyd and that Rosie is having health issue again. Glad you have the marshmallows to cheer you up. And I hope @BY Bob you are beginning to see the end of your issues at work and in every day life 🤞.

Funny about broccoli ...we watched moonraker last evening and laughed our heads off. " Excuse me my name is Bond, James Bond. I'm looking for Dr. Goodhead.
-You just found her.
-A woman!
-Your powers of observation do you credit, Mr Bond."
I do wonder how Aurora Bond would have handled this🤣.

We are on draught alert, officially forbidden to water gardens during the day since Friday .. but for now we don't apply the restrictions as it's still freezing at night, and our village has many streams (but they will run dry at some point). Planting is a nightmare..under 5 cm the soil is just dust..no life.
Other than that I'm having a lot of fun chicken drama (it's getting a bit better between the roosters now we are letting them fight it off a bit, but the hens are making up for it🙄) and my ex-batts are beginning to show that three and a half is old age for them.
And the neighbor's cows that are grazing on a property above our house have broken in our garden five times since yesterday, driving the chickens (and me) nuts.

Some pictures from the last two weeks.

Léa for Monday mugs. Since then she has activated puffed broody screaming mode again 🤦‍♀️.

Théo and Chipie for twofers. Chipie has started laying again! As I have no clue what age she is, when she hadn't gone back to laying I was a bit worried this could mean she was too old, so I'm happy to see her tiny white eggs again. Ever since, Théo has been mating her very often, so he obviously knows.

Thirsty ex-batts with Théo

I love this one- Gastounet trying to understand what is inside this thing.

A well-ordered line of butts.

And little Blanche's butt. She has finally lost sight in her sore eye and we think she won't be here much longer. But when she's awake, she still tries by all means to murder Chipie ! It's definitely keeping her fighting. I'm beginning to wonder if it could be some sort of jealousy as they are both Théo's favorite hens.

I wish you all a nice end of week and will be reading and thinking of your chickens and you even if I don't post 💚.
Awesome photos Manue thanks for the update, I very much enjoyed reading it, and loved the Bond reference that was hilarious!

Sorry to hear that Blanche is not doing well, it’s hard when they get old.

My friend finally finished making the scarf for my rooster Jaffar. She sent me a picture of it. I think it’s too long for the little guy, but I will try it on him when I pick it up.

Can’t wait to see it on him! Very snazzy, you can always trim the ends.

I got some more butts, even from Oats! Probably all for today, I’ve humiliated them far enough

That is some serious fluff on your boy! And Ravin is a beauty ❤️

Fight !! Big huge fight!

Fluffy and Dorothy got into it, and Mr P came over and broke up that fight, but they got into it again, and then Marty got into it! She can be a vicious wee fighter 😳 she chased Dorothy away, then Dorothy and ROSE ! Got into it!!!

It’s mayhem here today, bet they are thinking of going broody….

But poor Fluffy had a whole bunch of feather torn off her neck, and since she is rather damp and wet it looks even worse, I shoved her in a nest box with an egg to distract her and get her to warm up and dry out.

Crazy as a wet hen - hahaha now we all know where that saying came from!

Poor silly boy! That must have hurt! Did it grow back?

Yes a horn eggsactly! I nipped off about a millimeter hahaha hardly any really as I was too freaked out by it’s texture to be too aggressive about trimming it. I might give a go again next week.
File it, don't snip it! A metal human nail file works really well.

No, when the whole spur came out/off, it left a curved (concave) hollow there - essentially, the 'root' of the spur came out. once it healed over, it didn't seem to bother him. Keeping it clean did bother me, though, he would tear off any dressings with his beak...and if he didn't, the girls would peck it off for him!:thBut, blu-kote and dressings at least once a day (to replace the 'torn off' ones!) and he was 'good to go'.

Mera's comb doesn't have the notch in it.
From this angle, I can't really tell if it is notched or not...but now I'll know what to look for (if I remember this!)
Sorry to hear that Blanche is not doing well, it’s hard when they get old.
Yes, and it is really sad that they are 'old' at 3-3.5 years of age. :hit so sad what we have done to them. and to think I felt both devastated and cheated when my dear Rosie passed at 5 years of age. She was one of my first hens, and taught ignorant me just how wonderful, intelligent, and perceptive chickens could be!

I'm sorry to hear that Blanche is not recovering well from her eye issue @ManueB. I know this won't make you feel any better, but do try to remember what a wonderful life she has with you - that you gave her this great opportunity to be A CHICKEN in a loving and cared for environment. Something she never would have gotten to experience if it hadn't been for you rescuing her. (Though sometimes, I wonder who rescues who - no implications for you personally ManueB, just a statement in general that I think they give us as much as we give them!) 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Good to know! I think I can shine a light on it and see through it since it’s white. Maybe a dremel will file it down - it seems to me clipping his legs when he is walking.
