Foot is pretty sore and stiff today. So need to elevate and stretch more today. But overall it is ok.
I got the food hanger in with the toys I bought on Amazon. It isn’t really macrame, just knotted rope, but a macrame hanger is a good idea. Smallest thing I have tried so far is 1/4 of a cabbage head. Here is a zoomed in pic from Amazon.

I just can’t manage it this year. I am just now able to get around a little better, and my DH is having rotator cuff surgery in less than two weeks. This makes it really difficult to even think about setting up an area for her to brood and raise chicks. Not to mention I still don’t have a secure outdoor area for them, and supervised time out is difficult. This is something we are discussing making improvements, but it has to wait until he is fully recovered from his surgery which will be at least 3-6 months. Not to mention he will only be getting about 40% pay until he can work again. It just isn’t in the cards this year.

Yes you are a responsible hen owner to ensure your not overly taxed - too many times I see people just overloading themselves with pets and such.

The animals are thee ones to suffer 🥰

Chick update. As of 3 hours ago Momma Hen had one out. She very closely came to pecking my eye while I was trying to check so I will leave the grouch alone the rest of the night. Holly, I will say she is going to be completely done by midnight. 3 out already. I checked her about 30 minutes ago and she has 3 eggs left. 1 was almost fully zipped so it is probably out by now. The other 2 have good size pips. Color wise Momma Hen's first one is black and brown. Holly has 1 blue, 1 black and brown and one solid black. The black one came from a egg from one of the Cinnamon Queens. I did not set these eggs, and I have not told mom yet but, jet black, black skin and double toes. Definitely a Branch or Twig chick.

How are all the babies? How many of your chooks chicks hatched? What about the Belifelders?
I had to rehome my 10 chicks I bought home, but I do have the three that my friend hatched - one from Marty and two from Sophia.

Eli is no better or worse. She spends most of her day in the nest box. I bring her breakfast and supper on a tray and she eats well.
She goes out a couple of times in the day where she rolls around like a drunk.
It is sad to see.
I don’t think she is in pain or suffering. She makes happy clucks over her food. But it is hard to see this ending well barring some miracle.

I fear Piglet is stuck with the name. No doubt she will end up becoming an elegant svelte lady like Phyllis and I will be embarrassed by the name. But right now it suits her perfectly!
Maybe Olivia, if you don't end up permanently naming her Piglet?

My son has covid. He was told too go to the doctors after an hour on the bus, the doctor said wouldn't go near him, because he has covid :idunno:th

My girl isn't very well but she tucked into some food before bed

Tell him to just go to a walk-in clinic or emergency, they have to treat you at emerg.

They may lock you in a room like they did to me but they will treat you 😆

Ah, sorry for my long absence. My guineas attack Pastel all the time whenever I let him peck around outside.
Today a huge fight broke our between them. Guineas have very big personalities for their small size. They think that they can take something even twice their size on.
Guineas are actually known to kill roosters. I honestly don't know that much about how or why they do, but I'd try to separate them. If not then you may need to re-home the trouble making guineas.
I've seen YT videos about how chickens would hide from guineas, and once the guineas were rehomed, the chickens were fine.
It's quite interesting. I'm not so sure though.
I am trying to re-home some of my guineas, as my dad said that I can get some more chickens if I do 😛
I'm gonna find the weekly synopsis now, and I have tons to catch up on.
Hope all is well!!
I just don't let them out together. Even our dominant roosters are weirded out by the Guineas so the Guineas get limited time outside. They are in their tractor now so I move them to fresh grass every few days.
