View attachment 3490038Kren and Whiskey got into it again this morning. As you can see, Horus is circling to get in on it.

View attachment 3490039Hector teamed up with Whiskey  and ended the whole thing. It looked like Whiskey was trying to defend a girl from Kren's attentions. Kren (in spite of his build being better suited to the climate) is looking tastier.

You can also see the work remaining from the clean out. Need to clean the water bucket and start the new bedding. Hopefully tonight. If not, then definitely tomorrow.

Also found Castor. He'd disappeared (again, usually visiting a lady cat). Heard meowing in the garage when getting the chicken feed this morning. He'd gotten himself locked in. (hadn't parked in it for a few days and he didn't make a sound yesterday). Definitely thirsty, but I think it's safe to say the mouse in there is no more. He's had water and is now working on breakfast outside. The chickens (who usually try staging a raid on his dish) have given him space to eat, audience free.
Boys seem like a lot of trouble, but they sure are handsome.

And Then There Were 6
I have tragic news everyone. We lost Betty today. While free ranging today she fell into the pool. I have no idea how or why. None of the chickens go anywhere near the pool and yet she fell in. Before Mrs BY Bob could get her out she passed away due to hypothermia. The water is still quite cold.

I buried her between the two Blueberry bushes that Hattie bought. I will post a tribute to her later this week but her is the last photo I ever took of her.

Yet another hen lost too soon. Mrs BY Bob is inconsolable. She blames herself of course and Betty was one of her special girls.

I myself feel as though I'm getting numb to the losses. I'm going to try and spend time with everyone who is left tomorrow morning. I need to try to reconnect with them.

Us ladies would like to help and console our Hooman, we want to let him know that as a part of our flock we all share in his sadness over our flock-mate's passing. We love that Betty will be able to enjoy the Blueberries for ever now.

Thank you dear Hooman, we are here for you always.

Yours lovingly Pretty Hen and all us ladies, and the furry ones also

Holy Dinah - doesn't he look scary with his feathers on display! A true dinosaur if ever there was one.

Not caturday, but he seems fine
