While waiting for horses to eat, I was checking out FBA when I happened to see Martina fly up and bounce off the netting over their bin. Of course I laughed and told her better luck next time.

A few minutes later I saw her fly up and squeeze between the edge of the net and the rim of the bin! Amazing! Worthy of Eli and her flight abilities.

Well she looked at me with a smug chicken smirk and just stayed there while I laughed.

I have filed a claim so may get my money back. But that doesn't compensate for the stress to poor Eli travelling to the vet and having her toenail cut to draw blood.
And of course it also doesn't compensate me for the anxiety and not having test results.
If it gets there in the next 48 hours they can still do the Marek's test I believe but not the Avian Leukosis test. We only have until end of day for the Avian Leukosis test to work.
I also need to decide what to do about the babies. I think I am going to move them into the Chicken Palace even without any test results.
If the package never shows up I have to decide whether to subject Eli to that stress again and if so, when. It could not be before next week because by Thursday it will be too late as the lab is closed at the weekend and I am out a lot of the day tomorrow.
Also want to be calm if I am going to attempt blood collection on my own.
Oh I am soooooooo mad!

Sorry about this, oh so aggravating! It happens, and this is one of the worst times for it to occur!

I didn't know about ALV, are you suspecting this, tying it into the tribe history? If the chicks come into contact with poop (skin flakes, dander too) that is still fresh they could be exposed. But also wouldn't everyone else there have been exposed too? And no one is showing symptoms yet? ALV does seem possible, but isn't it much less likely than Marek's?

Has the chicks' Marek's vaccination "ripening" or whatever time elapsed now?

Is the blood test the best / only reliable way to test for ALV? It's transmitted through eggs - an albumin test? Or a cloacal swab?
