I get bit all the time (usually by Xzit) but lately, Jaffar has been biting me “not hard” but enough to make a point!

He's is definitely splash marked. Not sure if the blonde look is actually considered silver or if it's more lemon. Running the calculator with splash laced lemon (or the other way round, not sure which way it's supposed to go) produces the same results.Ok here is a photo of Mr P and his black feathers mixed into his light ones.
He has the black in his tail, and on his head and his side

Maybe you should pick him up when he does that.I get bit all the time (usually by Xzit) but lately, Jaffar has been biting me “not hard” but enough to make a point!![]()
It’s spring. He acts like that in the springtime.Maybe you should pick him up when he does that.
Me either!! Ridiculously excitedSo eggciting! Can’t wait to see your wee ones!
I could not help it, I've been staring at Momma hens chicks all morning and kept thinking I was seeing signs in all of them that leaned towards silkie genetics. I broke my own rule and got my hands on all 4 and battled the demon. We shall call it a draw, I got to look at the chicks, she drew blood. Upon inspection 3 out of the 4 have various silkie traits and Twiggy needs 3 cigars now. 1 of them is clearly a Marans x Buff orp cross. Straight comb, normal leg color although feathered and no hint of future muffs or beard. The other 3 are half Buff orp and 1/4 Marans and 1/4 silkie. 2 have tell tale signs of a future beard and muffs. 1 of the 3 appears to be beardless but black skin like a silkie. In time it may get a slight beard and muffs like Goose, we will see. For the longest time I though Goose was not going to have a beard or muffs. None of them have the double toe indicating they would be Branch chicks. All 3 of them though do not have a straight comb, it will be like their daddy's. All 4 do have feathered legs, the 2 fuzzy faced chicks have the heaviest leg fuzz.
One of these days I will learn not to mess with the ole bat, but it is not this day.

I've heard that it's a mating grab of some kind. Sometimes they will do because they think you're a hen. It’s spring. He acts like that in the springtime.
That little mark is nothing. Really it is just a little scratch to make her feel good. She showed incredible restraint earlier. She is not above flogging you on the head and using her stump of a foot like a club.Me either!! Ridiculously excited
she is not playing around! Brownie is actually pretty nice with me, so far anyway BUT I entirely understand the need to know, even when you also know you should leave well enough alone
Even if Brownie was a total banshee I would 100% still be nosing around looking
I couldn’t stop myself from doing it either.
I am sorry she gotcha that hard![]()
I think it’s an ownership issue. Jaffar thinks those hens are his, when I think they are mine!I've heard that it's a mating grab of some kind. Sometimes they will do because they think you're a hen. View attachment 3492711
