What a day, it started with hearing weird noises coming from inside the back wall of the coop. It ended with finding a rat doing a complete clean out of the coop a few days before intended.
I have mostly bare floor for tonight, till I can get some fresh wood chips tomorrow.
As for the rat 🐀 uggg, I knew it was probably only a matter of time. There are alot of tunnels under my coop I found today :( Also after deep diving into posts on BYC I am fair certain its a Norwegian rats, I saw one but I have no doubt there are more.

The battle has begun! Stripping the coop was step one. I also flooded the area I saw one in, Inspection of the hardware cloth and moving the food and water out into run is step 2. If they don’t depart I will get an electric trap and use one bite poison as a lure.

Needless to say I am exhausted after all the shenanigans today. I also don’t know what to do about the timeline for putting Brownie and the babies back out into coop. This throws quite the wrench in the works.

If anyone has any suggestions I am all ears 👂 for now I think I am going to find my pillow.

Job well done with the clean out.

Rats are the bane of my existence. I use my electric zapper when I remember…

My silkie chicks will be 4 weeks this Thursday but I still keep them in a sedate are at night.
