 I may be one of those enablers. I don't have any silkies at all (this probably needs to be corrected) you can send a few of those this way ❤️
Those are easy! They aren’t mine and go back to my friend (I may keep a Roo is there is one mum is smitten with the white baby).

The others - all mine to deal with 😳 14 of them.

It's past my bed time, but the power's out and I have a brooder heat plate going. So we cranked up the generator just for the itty bitties. Estimated restoration is 1:30 am. I keep looking out the window to see if my neighbor's porch light is on. Then I can shut off the genny and go to bed.

4 hours to go...

I might have posted that already. It's cute enough to post again, isn't it?
This is very worrisome. I hope everything turned out OK. :fl

They are still not quite used to me and are still a little scared, but look at how cute they are laying like this together🥹😍

So far today has been strange. Not even 9am yet. Had a robin trying repeatedly to fly in the big living room window. From the railing in front of it, so only about 2 feet distance. (Reason for keeping the windows a bit dirty). 5 min later, had a bird (possibly the same one) land on the screen of the kitchen window (other side of the house, middle of the screen). This bird is DETERMINED to come inside. It flew off for the moment, but....?
We have this happening too. The robin is fighting an interloper, who it sees in it’s reflection…we’re assuming this is a young male, new to nesting here. It’s breast color is paler so it could be a female. Our robin mostly seems to fight closest to where we think the nest is, a large window on the north side of the barn/garage. Every time I go in there I hear it and check that nobody has been caught inside because the sound is the same. But no, there’s that robin, outside, fighting against the window.

It was regularly fighting the house windows, going around the house morning and late afternoon, from window to window: East, South, West, North, clockwise. Feeling sorry for it because we have a lot of windows! And that ended a plan to try to put up netting to try to prevent it, not sure if I could put it up far enough away and whether it would end up getting caught in it.

That would be quite the size difference!

So is that chick a pulllet?
It is possible if the rooster is gentle. Chiquita likes both Branch and Bubba. She allows both to breed her. When I first saw Bubba breed her I had a meltdown as he is huge. He is so gentle with her though. Raven has 4 or 5 of Chiquita's eggs under her. If they all hatch I will have to wait until they are about 2 weeks old to find out if they are full silkie or not.

Disaster struck my little coop.

Last Sunday I got two new hens, bear and fifi

I was so excited and made a post about them last Sunday showing them off. But the next day when I went to check on them a fox had destroyed the coop and took bear(the white hen) with him and left fifi(the black hen) alone,in shock and terrified😥.
I then got in contact with the person I bought them from and he said I could pick up another hen today, so fifi wouldn’t be alone anymore yay!!
Fifi had a very hard time recovering from loosing her best friend, didn’t really eat and didn’t really have any spirit left in her but I have hope, as she has gotten better🎉

Today I went and picked up another isabell marans just a little bit more lavender in color than bear and put her with fifi, so far it’s going okay they have exchanged some small little clucks and seem to get along. I should note that fifi and the new hen has been together since they hatched and came from the same place so they do know each other but aren’t as close as fifi and bear was😊

They are right now inside for the night and tomorrow will go to a coop but they will sleep inside at night so they don’t get hurt again and so the fox can’t get them😊
Fox will hunt during the day in North America. Is your coop a tent?
